Gun perception...

No rights are absolute.
No one said otherwise.
We are not allowed to yell fire in a crowded theater
That's false equivalency.
and we cant own nuclear arms.
Yes, based on a treaty we ratified as a nation which holds the same weight as a constitutional amendment. But no similar amendment has been proposed, so once again, false equivalency.

A convicted felon cant vote.
Yes, as per the 5A. Also felons can get their rights restored. So more false equivalency.
A 17 year old cant vote.
And? They're not adults.

There are so many examples of limits on rights guaranteed by the Constitution. OUr founders supported many of those limitations.

Really? The founders were actually into more government power when they specifically limited it?

Your claimed NY proposal does not ban ALL GUNS, only those not insured.
.

would it be your contention that poll taxes aren't bad then? I mean.. you aren't preventing people from voting, just those that dont pay the poll tax.

I demand everyone that wants to vote pay 5000 dollars. Even jarod agrees that such a program isn't preventing people from voting, only those that don't pay the 5000 dollars.

notice how jarod shut the fuck up.

All I ask if people be consistent in their beliefs. If you want to be a fascist taker, then embrace it.

Oh man, there is some rich irony in ken calling others stupid. That's good humor. I'm almost glad I'm sober to read that.

I'd dearly love to see how the lawyer can square requiring gun owners insurance with US v. Murdock.

I guess he doesn't care about the poor; because making the insurance a requirement is going to be something, that someone barely making enough to feed his family, unable to afford.
Plus; I guess they just assume that the criminals are automatically either pay the insurance or surrender their guns.
What a fucking idiot.

I was hoping this was a thread to address the perception issues of the anti-gun crowd.

They (the anti-gun folk) are all worked up to ban "assault" rifles, semi-auto handguns (especially those with high cap. magazines), and other scary guns.

None of them seem concerned about shotguns, which are far more deadly. I have looked for the statistic, but haven't found it. But a few years before the first Gulf War, I saw an article comparing the fatality rates of wounds from 9mm handguns and 12 gauge shotguns. The 9mm was fatal in something like 25% of shootings in which someone was hit. The 12 gauge was fatal somewhere in the neighborhood of 88% of the shootings.

The gun is a tool. The shooter is what makes it dangerous.

A gun may be a tool but its prime (and only purpose, it might be said) is to kill. A shovel is a tool and can be used to kill but its prime purpose is to shovel. Quite different. All guns should be taken out of the hands of all civilians. A random search law should be introduced for as long as necessary but no longer. The search should take the full personal details of anyone carrying a gun and the gun should be confiscated. That person should be regularly checked and his house searched. The person from whom he aquired the gun should also be searched and his premises as well.

despite your love and worship of the state, that would get alot of people killed and make the civil war look like a picnic.
