Make the importation and/or sale of high caliber, velocity and capacity weapons a class one felony with automatic pison time.
Make possession of them a class two felony for first time offense. Second offense, class one and longer prison time. Third offense and you're out. Twenty five to life.
Of course, any arrest and conviction involving one, as with all felony convictions, forfeits the right to ever legally own or possess a firearm in the future.
Significantly increase the punishment for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, too.
Severely restrict the type and caliber of all firearms that can be legally sold, owned or possessed for civilian, non-military and non-law enforcement use across the board, to revolver type handguns only at.38 caliber maximum.
