Countries that closed down , mandated masks and social distancing have smothered Corona. They have very few cases and the ones thay have are manageable.

I just think the effectiveness of masks is marginal at best. But if the city passes a law saying I have to wear bells on my shoes I'll wear bells on my shoes.
But your thinking isn't supported by science. That's the point. Studies on the effectiveness of masks in stopping this particular virus aren't available in peer reviewed journals, but their effectiveness in spreading viruses has been scientifically established. An expert consensus view holds by far the most weight with me. It may be difficult to quantify, but this isn't a binary choice (i.e. they work or they don't). R0 needs to get below 1. Masks help drive that number down.

I used to do clinical research at this place, which involved pulling people off the streets and offering them not much money money to test, for example, pre-operative anti-bacterial disinfectant on their bodies. Our subjects almost always ended up being retirees, who had the kind of time required for the studies, and homeless people, who needed the money. The problem we faced was that the elderly people always had the most compromised immune systems, while the homeless people always had the most resilient immune systems...because they were exposed to the maximum amount of viruses and bacteria. Our data were often generated from two extremes, so we had to account for that.
But the point is, it drives home the importance of doing the OPPOSITE of what our repeatedly discredited "experts" are telling us we should be doing. Herd immunity is needed. Go about your lives, get the virus, and move on, like you do with every other virus. The only exceptions are those who are immuno-compromised.
