Great point on illegal immigration

I know people thought immigration was a problem during bush, but the rhetoric has racheted up 1,000 fold even though Obama deports more. faux outrage much!!!

you're a moron...the issue was growing all the time under bush, it has continued to grow and now the issue has ratcheted up because of the AZ law

if you had any brains you would of course remember mcshamnesty etc....so once again your faux outrage is total horse hockey

The rhetoric has increased, as toppy said, but what specific problems have increased to account for the increased rhetoric?

like i said...the AZ law caused the rhetoric on both sides to ratchet up...

if you don't think that there are specific problems, like the economy to get people upset about illegals taking jobs, money (health/school) etc...then you're more naive than i thought...

the rhetoric was there under bush and mccain and bush felt the wrath of the voters, don't forget, bush dropped his immigration plan due to outrage

so once again, you and toppy display the actual faux outrage because you hate anything and everything republican

How much does the ticket cost that LEGAL immigrants purchase before they enter into this country?

Otherwise the analogy is totally invalid.

You need to use a little abstraction. The point is there is a "process" to gain entry. The price of the process is immaterial to the accuracy of the analogy.

So what was Sarver supposed to do? He knows what side of the bread HIS butter is on. And it's the right thing to do.
This is old news. Quit whining.

Suns to Wear "Los Suns" Jerseys on Cinco De Mayo
Posted: May 4, 2010

"The Phoenix Suns will wear their “Los Suns” game jerseys for Game 2 of their Western Conference Playoff Series against the San Antonio Spurs, Wednesday night.

In making the announcement, Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver issued the following statement:

“Our players and organization felt that wearing our “Los Suns” jerseys on Cinco de Mayo was a way for our team and our organization to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the State of Arizona, and our nation. We are proud that 400 players from 36 countries compete in the NBA, and the league and the Suns have always considered that to be a great strength of the NBA.”

ever notice how much Mrs. Crabtree the bus driver on southpark looks like gov. brewer?

He understands it.
It's just that zippy just can't bring himself to ever agree with anything that has to with being Right.

I think its to redirect blame and demonize. This is nothing new. Give people someone to hate. Divert attention away from the fact that you are stalling every attempt to actually solve the problem. Create controversy and divide the public. Spread fear.

Its also about this...

Arizona May Put State Prisons in Private Hands

State officials will soon seek bids from private companies for 9 of the state’s 10 prison complexes that house roughly 40,000 inmates, including the 127 here on death row. It is the first effort by a state to put its entire prison
system under private control."

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/24/us/24prison.html

If you are making money from prisoners you need lots of them. So lets pass laws, underfund education and create poverty that will fill up the cells. ChaaChingggg!

The owner of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, Robert Sarver, opposes
AZ's new immigration laws. Arizona's Governor, Jan Brewer, released
the following statement in response to Sarver's criticism of the new
law:

"What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were
sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea who
the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not
allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus
non-paying attendees couldn't be ejected. Furthermore, what if Suns'
ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with
complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a
gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free
medical care and shelter?" -Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer

Excellent post Yurt.

actually dumbass....it does cost to come here legally....you have to pay all sorts of fees for the paperwork to be here legally

way to display that zappa ignorance

Yep.

The illegal immigrants are coming into the country to work. They are being illegally employed, which is not the equivalent of sneaking into the field without a ticket to watch a game. Employers are permitted or, should I say required, to check immigration status but they'll overlook the fine print in order to hire cheap labor.... unlike an usher, who can throw out a gate-crasher. The illegal immigrants are paying for their food and living expenses, local taxes, in some cases FICA, so they're not "watching the game for free, refreshments included". And hospitals are required to see and stabilize everybody, immigrant or not, regardless of ability to pay. Where's a statistic showing that every illegal immigrant who sought treatment didn't pay for it? What about the legal immigrants and citizens who don't pay?

I think Brewer's analogy fails.

so if someone snuck into the arena without a ticket, but picked up a broom and started sweeping ringside....its a-ok because they are working, they didn't break the law by getting in without a ticket, because they are working....it doesn't matter if they get free services, because they are working....

even the free food and drink?

plus you ignored the part about working illegals

what if the people sneaking in cleaned up the park after the event

not a valid analogy regarding working illegals:pke:

then that makes it ok.....

according to the lefty elites....go ahead, come to this country illegally, but you have to clean up our trash....

Well, legally immigrating to the United States isn't like a basketball game where you can simply shell out a set amount of cash to purchase a ticket allowing you to enter. Yes, it cost money but it isn't as simple as purchasing a ticket. I mean, if there were legal ways for anyone that wanted to immigrate to the United States to simply pay a fee legally enter the country then your point would be valid. But that's just not how it works.

Sneaking into the stadium without management's knowledge and sweeping is not the same as actually being hired by a person to do a specific job, and actually working and getting paid for that job....even though both employer and employee are doing something illegal.

you forgot to mention it would be easier to deport criminals if people had to be documented to enter the country for purposes of work
