Masks are useful in such a setting in certain instances, such as when performing surgeries. Masks help to keep various contaminants (spittle, blood, etc.) out of the surgical site (as well as off of a surgeon's face/mouth).

They are not wearing masks to filter viruses.

Why do all medical personnel wear N95 masks and shields when assisting Covid patients?

Why do Internal Medical docs wear multiple masks and shields when seeing regular patients in the office?

They don't. A number of them might do so due to some higher up requiring them to do so.

No, they are masking due to fear, whether that be fear of COVID, fear of being thrown out of an institution, fear of being fired, fear of being ostracized, or whatever else...

Masks do not filter viruses. Their pores are far too large and viruses are far too small.
