Great Desantis Plague of 2021 causing panic

No casino. No dice are involved in any way here.

Masks are completely ineffective against a virus. Trying to use them AGAIN to stop Covid has already failed.
N95 masks do work. So to claim a "mask doesn't work" is false. Maybe certain types of masks are less effective or even ineffective, but not these.

Hello Darth,

Sounds like a problem that is being created at the border by the way we are processing people coming in.

Easy answer is to tax the rich more, expand the facilities at the border so that immigrants can be processed faster without the need for them to be gathered together in large groups where the virus might spread. That would also create more good government jobs.

Fortunately the US govt does require a negative COVID test as a condition of entry into the USA.

Is there any problem they can’t be solved by taxing the rich lol?

How about we close the damn border? We’re in the middle of a pandemic, right?

Hello Darth,

Why? Are you protecting them?

Allowing our population to grow with hard working, tax-paying, enthusiastic new citizens makes America greater. We should always strive to make America greater.

But what about the pandemic lol?

You, of all people, should be jumping straight legged over the prospect of infected migrants flooding into the country and spreading the bug. You’re ok with sharing the air with infected migrants?

Did you miss the part where our government requires a negative test prior to entry?

You're welcome.

My pleasure.

Glad to clear that up.

Immigrants coming through checkpoints are being tested. They are probably safer to have running loose in society than most Americans - who are NOT being tested.

Agreed. It's levels of effectiveness and differences between protection from spreading a disease versus catching a disease.

A seatbelt should be worn in a car. A full 5-point harness is best, but if all someone has is a rope around the seat, common sense says "tie a good knot!"

Masks are the same way. Coupled with social distancing and all the hand cleaner that's been on sale....and a vaccination...people have the most reasonable protection that can be expected. It's all I do.

From summa these comments you'd think these people are actually rooting for the disease, doing everything they can to help it spread.

It's unconscionable.

Or, shall we say, deplorable.

Did you miss the local reporting in South TX?

“The border communities face particular challenges because of the influx of migrants arriving every single day,” U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Laredo Democrat, said in late July. He noted an extremely high CVOID positivity rate among those deported.

According to Cuellar’s July 26 press release, the migrant surge has resulted in the temporary shutdown of Catholic Charities (the primary organization that assists new migrants), nearly 70 border agents testing positive for COVID-19 in the Rio Grande Valley sector, 17 border agents testing positive for COVID-19 in the Laredo sector, and 233 hospital beds occupied in the area.

The city of McAllen didn’t mince words about the impact of the migrant surge on the local community, either. “As these temporarily admitted immigrants are released, the federal government does not test them for COVID-19,” officials said Wednesday.

The city reports that since mid-February, the Border Patrol has released more than 7,000 immigrants confirmed as having COVID into McAllen.

More than 1,500 of those have come in the past week or so.

That's not news. It's an opinion piece.

CDC Forced To “Adjust” Sunday’s Florida “Record” COVID Count Lower By Almost 50% After State Health Department Cries Foul On Data

The CDC has been forced to “adjust” its Covid-19 case tracker for Florida after the state’s health department took to Twitter earlier this week to call out incorrect data.

As of Tuesday, the CDC “was working with the state’s health department” to get the data right, according to a report from Fox News.

Florida’s health department called out the incorrect CDC information publicly, stating earlier this week: “Wrong again. The number of cases @CDCgov released for Florida today is incorrect. They combined MULTIPLE days into one. We anticipate CDC will correct the record.”

The CDC had reported 28,317 new Covid cases on Sunday, but had “adjusted” the number to 19,584 cases by Tuesday, the report says. Florida’s health department claimed that there were 15,319 cases on Sunday a number that is almost 50% lower than the CDC’s originally reported number.

…unintentional? Too late to correct all those Sunday morning political shows ‘gloating’ over DeSantis’ state outbreak.

There's the fact that not one person admitted to the hospital the GF works at has had the "flu" this year. Every one who was admitted with "flu like symptoms" has (they claimed) the China virus, not the "regular flu" that comes around this time of year. She went to dinner with her best friend last evening, her friend's son (who is an avid college baseball player) came down with severe nausea and flu-like symptoms for days and could not eat and became very dehydrated to the point of needing admitted to the hospital. They said he had the China virus and started him on IV liquids. The Dr. gave him a prescription nausea pill and the following day he stopped throwing up and they sent him home. The day after that, he started eating and felt normal again. Now, if this kid had the China virus, why didn't any of his baseball teammates or his parents get the China virus from him since it is so contagious? How did a prescription nausea medication kill the China virus in 2 days? Could this nausea medication be the new "wonder drug" that cures the China virus? I have my doubts.
More proof the numbers are rather skewed.

Hello Darth,

It’s an opinion piece laced with facts.

Which facts are in error?

Let us begin with the title.

"Stop pretending that crush of immigrants at Texas border isn’t driving COVID cases"

Who is going to read a piece with such a slanted title? Fox viewers, that's who. Fox is the biggest driver of hatred and division in America.

It is entirely possible that some COVID cases are the result of immigration. The rational approach to examining that prospect is to place things into perspective. When that is done, the result indicates that while immigration is not without COVID, the pandemic was already going strong before any immigrants even got it. Many immigrants are likely to get COVID because of the way they have been treated. If they came from sparsely populated areas and traveled mostly outdoors, their chances of getting COVID were very low until they got to the border and were placed in jammed crowded settings with lots of other humans crammed into small spaces without abundant ventilation.

In short, it is my opinion that if immigrants got COVID, it is largely because of the way they have been treated, and they likely acquired it after they got here.

Now, look at the proportions.

We have immigrants by the thousands. But American number in the millions. What is the ratio there?

A thousand times a thousand equals a million.

It could be said that Americans are spreading COVID a thousand times more than immigrants.

Even if immigration was completely shut down (which would create a crowding disaster) COVID would still be rampant in the USA.

The governors of Florida and Texas are spreading thousands more COVID cases with their pro-pandemic policies than is caused by immigration.

Yes genius, your bullshit anecdote proves that it's all a hoax.

:rofl2::rofl2:

You have no idea if anyone else came down with it. But those symptoms are exactly what my wife experienced. And to the best of our knowledge, she didn't pass it either. Quarantine, wear a mask. Yes, we did that to protect you selfish, stupid fucks. What are you doing to protect me? Absolutely nothing. You can go fuck yourselves.

I didn't say it was a hoax. If you had a brain, you'd see I was questioning the number of reported cases.
My mother almost died from it. My cousin's husband died from it. One of my friends died from it.
I wore a mask everywhere we were asked to. I had the Pfizer shots. Now, you can go fuck yourself, asshole.

N05 masks are completely ineffective against viruses. They are dust masks. See the N95 specification. You could drive a semi-truck load of viruses through the pores of that mask.

You are trying to stop mosquitoes with a chain link fence.
