Did The WORD Holocaust EXIST PRIOR TO 1930?
I believe that most people who think, will recognize that YES the word DID exist.
In fact, it dates back to the 13th century and is of Greek and Middle English origin and means sacrifice or consumed by fire!
The Jewish people do NOT OWN The WORD Holocaust! People say Nuclear Holocaust and nobody screams about that!
The use of the word in a context other than the attempt at exterminating the Jewish people by the Nazis should NOT be grounds for piling on anyone... Alan was NOT in ANY way diminishing the significance of those events with his remarks!
It was those who wished to diminish the power of his message (Including Mainstream Media), by classically "Attacking the Messenger..." who associated the historical reference to Alan's contemporary one.
This is "STANDARD ATTACK MODE" exercised upon ANYONE who happens to use the word "Holocaust" quite accurately I might add, as a descriptor of the well engineered "limitations" of our current Corporate Based Health Care System and its inherent "costs" as is being done here.
The daily and annual consequences of which differ only in scale and means of "execution." That's US Folks!
Just ask the 45,000 people annually how they feel... Oops, they're dead!
As Rep. Grayson so eloquently stated in his apology to they and their families...
Over 10 years these deaths have a tendency to add up if you think about it.
Comparatively speaking, just like those who have perished in the Iraq conflict currently in progress, THESE deaths are scattered across the length and breadth of this great nation, so people don't tend to pay as much attention to this cohort of "dead" quite as seriously as they would The OFFICIAL "Holocaust!" Again...
Excuse me but DEATH IS DEATH!
If someone dies prematurely due to cancer or heart disease or some other malady which has been left untreated due to lack of Health Insurance, i.e., access to comprehensive health services, the person is still DEAD!
The qualitative differential being merely DEAD FOR PROFIT/COST SAVINGS on behalf of PROFIT MAXIMIZATION by the HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY currently having purchased the "RIGHT TO AUTHOR" Health Care OOPS... I mean HEALTH INSURANCE "reform..."
Such "reform" of course which will dramatically enhance their revenue stream while doing ZERO to reduce those annual 45,000 deaths duly noted in the name of PROFIT!
At the end of the day, each and every deceased's only failure being that they just... weren't financially successful or wealthy enough to afford... HEALTH INSURANCE!
To the families of THESE "unfortunate people," the death of their loved one is just as real and just as much a "choice" as the decisions made that by those 1940's Nazi terrorists who killed the Jewish people, Gypsies, Homosexuals and others by the millions.
Rep. Grayson should NOT have backed down to the AIPAC gang of thugs who exert EXCESSIVE control over things political in this country!
Balance is WHAT is lacking in dealing with the problems of the Middle East. Rahm, and Debbie and all of the rest need to be sat down!
However, in this country where newspapers and other media are so controlled, we the public have little chance to change the paradigm.
So as I have done for the past 35 years or so, I will just have to listen to the nonsense, as Israel exerts its inordinate power over other peoples of the middle east funded by our TAX Dollars allocated by our corrupt representatives in Washington.
Balance is the solution...
