Grassley Letter

Hopefully when they bring the "cast of characters," back to be interviewed they won't let them do it in a closed door session because they will say one thing to the committee and try to spin it to the public like they've done with McCabe admitting that without the steele dossier the FISA warrant would not have been granted.

Lolz they knowingly used the steele leak to yahoo news to corroborate the steele dossier to the FISC.

Exactly. Ya-hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! LOL

They did actually pay $168k in total to "create" it I believe. But, then rescinded the offer of further payments for it and "other research" after he started shopping it around.

And according to wacka doodle Dems, that information means nothing.

It is appalling.

I think that was from Fusion GPS, I can't find a source yet stating that Steele actually got the federal funding only that he was promised public funds and that that offer was rescinded.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that sounds reasonable. I'll try and find another source on that.

rassley and Graham asked the Justice Department to investigate whether Steele made false statements to federal investigators. In the newly released memo, the pair wrote that they sent the criminal referral because there’s evidence that Steele -- whose opposition research was funded largely by Trump rival Hillary Clinton and the Democrats -- either lied to the FBI or to a British court, or that classified documents reviewed by the committee are false.

Grassley asked the FBI to approve a declassified version of his Steele referral by Tuesday.

Among the portions of the Grassley letter that remain redacted are verbatim quotes from applications to a court for surveillance of former Trump adviser Carter Page as well as the government’s description of Steele’s statements to the FBI about his contacts with the media.
Follow the Trump Administration’s Every Move

Blacked out in the redacted letter is a section headed by the sentence "there is substantial evidence suggesting that Mr. Steele materially misled the FBI about a key aspect of his dossier efforts, one which bears on his credibility."

A section on a second memo by Steele quotes it as saying he received the report from the State Department, which in turn got it from a foreign source who was in touch with “a friend of the Clintons.”

"It is troubling enough that the Clinton Campaign funded Mr. Steele’s work, but that these Clinton associates were contemporaneously feeding Mr. Steele allegations raises additional concerns about his credibility," Grassley and Graham wrote in their criminal referral.

The thing to remember is that it isn't Steele's credibility that matters. It is only the credibility of his sources and information that count. The investigater could have a sketchy record, and yet deliver excellent information from highly credible sources. Meanwhile, you have the case of Steele, who was described as highly professional, with a stellar track record, and his dossier was full of unverifiable information from largely non-first hand sources.

OK, just looked again at what I linked.
Steele was paid $160,000 to create the Trump dossier for Fusion GPS.
So, FGPS paid him.
The FBI did make him an offer, but rescinded it.

the real issue is
did the FBI know the Steele dossier was compromised; and to what extent did the FISA application rely on the dossier..

The more they (FBI/DoJ) knew and relied upon it, the 'more corrupt' the filing ( application).
Grassley says "heavily relied" upon it - same as Nunes memo

"heavily relied"
plus
Comey already claimed the thing was "salacious and unverified", but they continued on working with Hillary's buds Cody Shearer, Sidney Blumenthal and renewing the FISA warrant.

Comey signed off on at least 1 FISA ( Oct 2016) with reliance on the Steele dossier, when he knew
it was salacious and unverified.
Then he had the gaul to brief POTUS Trump because he said Trump should know it was out there.

Comey...the left's darling Boy Scout, above reproach.
Lied like a rug.

Why is it that everyone on the left that has posted on this thread appears to mimic a screaming striped ass ape? :seenoevil::hearnoevil::speaknoevil:

I'll be checking on your emotions after November. ;0)

Politics doesn't affect me emotionally. Politics DOES at times frustrate me when things go against logic and reason. Sure, I try to back any candidate I like with enthusiasm. And, win or lose, I'll still have opinions on the victor and the loser. My day to day life never really changes, though. I don't end up screaming, crying, swearing and cursing or losing control.
So, what will be is what will be.

Boy that really added to the discussion. It helped frame nothing and kept it pig sty style personal. It's like we are in 6th grade again. I bet you enshrine your class participation award too.

ROFL.....I have to admit it doesn't add to the discussion as much as the post I was responding to...
