Grading Obama

Ummmmm I guess you missed this part.

Now he is tackling another major problem. Student debt. But the problem is high cost and lack of jobs. He needs to work on the root causes, not apply band aids.

Also the fact that the banks or whoever it is that give easy credit to both students and men in uniforms(military)/(some times at predatory interest rates) are also to blame.

What are your thoughts?

So it's just a coincidence that rates have exploded at the same time as they are now impossible to claim in bankruptcy and are typically government backed? Yeah that's not a scam there.

What did he do wrong in Afghanistan? Its a loosing battle started by bush. The policy on marijuana? Are you saying he is anti-pot? I'm upgrading him to an A!!!! Obamacare(although not perfect) was a start and no one else had a better idea.

The major problem I have with Obama is that he continued bush's irresponsible spending. He should have tighten the belt as soon as he got into office. Though it doesn't surprise me with him backed by wall street......

You're correct that it's a losing battle. We've been there way too long. There really isn't an objective, anymore - or real progress.

As for marijuana, I couldn't disagree more. They're treating it like a hard drug, which it is not, and many lives are being ruined in the process. It's the kind of policy I would expect in an extreme right-wing admin.

Obama gets a D+. Horrible USSC appointments, Eric Holder, Iraq, Afghan, F&F, that stupid idea to open up the strategic oil reserves, anti-freedom policies, assassinating American citizens, Obamacare, his actions regarding the VA...I could go on. The only stuff he has done that I liked is support Libya and Egypt, gave lip service towards nuclear power, and....drawing a blank.

He said as a senator it should be decrim, he also said it on the campaign trail. Now as president he chuckles ad advocates and sends the jack bottled thugs into medical states. He gets a d minus on prohibition.
Leaving trillions in taxes and jailing many. herb is way less harmfully than beer.

Reality check:

If colleges and universities weren't raising rates at an unprecedented and unsupported rate, the loans would not be hitting quite as hard. Instead of blaming banks we should be looking at the reasons why colleges are suddenly more than 5 times more expensive than they were not too long ago.

Can you tell me why Obama would rather blame the banks for giving loans that are guaranteed by the government than blame the actual schools that are causing the actual problem?
The main reasons State Universities have raised rates dramatically is due to substantial cuts in funding at the State level. The second biggest reason is growing administrative costs. The third biggest reason is increased spending on student services while the actual spending on instruction has actually gone down.

I think you're going to see big changes in the near future. Parents and students are voting with their feet and are applying in record numbers to the most cost affective state schools while eschewing the big State Flag Ship schools. In the near future I think your going to see significant cuts in administrative staff and student services with that money being directed towards instruction with a greater demand from the public to increase State funding which has dropped off substantially in the last ten years.

The private schools will continue to have astronomical tuition hikes due to scholarships. The prestigious schools may charge $45,000/year but less and less students are paying that full cost as these schools try to recruit the best students by subsidizing their tuition meaning those who's families have the means are supporting more and more students who's families do not. That may change to as the top schools get to a point where that's no longer economically sustainable.

Yes I think the American legal system is too harsh on pot offenses but pot smoking has ruined many lives also and should not be encouraged.

An intelligent debate requires an intelligent basis of argument. You failed to provide a logical premise. Since you can't acknowledged that my assessment that you are simply "a moron" is spot-on.

It works something like this idiot. I post something and you argue it using facts not insults. I believe I started off with a good enough basis to begin a debate.

Actually it works like this: You present an argument with a bullshit premise (in this case a series of them) and I shut you down in one fell swoop by refusing to accept the premise. :)

What a loser, pot ruined lives. Like beer some users are losers some are winners. Dumb2cents the anti Semite loser

I'm not a fan of legalized alcohol either. I think there should be limits on Alcohol consumption. Especially after they have criminal history due to excessive alcohol consumption. Yes forced rehab for those that cant control their liquor.

Prohibition does not work. If you want to increase penalties for misuse, that is fine. But to prohibit all together or try to regulate how much a person can drink is a bad idea.

If it was opium growing naturally and people were using opium and getting addicted and stealing, should the government prohibit its use and thus the source? You betcha!
why would people nee to steal if it grows naturally? and what constitutional power does the fed have to dictate what one does with their own body?

How would this be enforced? What if 'excessive' alcohol use does not lead to anything criminal?

Cuts are only realistic if you rely on the federally guaranteed loans. We cause our own problems.

I hope so, however in order to do this they need to force the state governments to quit dropping funding and saying, "The feds will cover it with their loans"...

I don't give a rip what private schools charge. I went to one and spent too much money, but I got a powerfully good education.
