Governor Rick Perry has it RIGHT

Conservative

Repent, America!
Today he leads thousands in prayer in Houston as Conservatives gather to reclaim our Christian Nation for the Socialist community organizer.

Governor Perry says "As an elected leader, I'm all too aware of government's limitations when it comes to fixing things that are spiritual in nature. That's where prayer comes in and we need it more than ever."

I ask all true Conservatives to prayerfully consider asking Governor Perry to step up and take back our country from the Communists, homosexuals, atheists and Islamics.

I suppose that is what liberals are all about - if you don't agree with them, just die.

What are you about? Posting in a thread by a poster Damocles himself has declared a troll, unless...

The thing is Brent, you are so much smarter than this. Take off your fucking conservatard blinders.

A constitutional amendment to ban gay union, really? Libertarians are supposed to be about state's rights, get your shit all in one sock, then talk to me.

I didn't claim to be a fan of Perry's stance on social issues. I'm opposed to the FMA. However, it is fucked up to wish death upon a public official for holding a prayer rally. Perry is wrong on gay issues, but he is not a mean-spirited person.

Racism & White Supremacy in American Christianity

America as a Christian Nation, America as a White Nation: Racism & White Supremacy in American Christianity

Conservative, evangelical Christianity in America is not inherently or necessarily racist. However, there has been significant convergence between racism, White Supremacy, and conservative Christianity throughout American history. Not only have conservative evangelical Christians been leading defenders of slavery, racism, and segregation, but there are aspects of evangelical doctrine which encourage the continuation of racist outcomes.

Evangelical Christianity's development as a defender of racist social structures wasn't inevitable from a theological standpoint, but it was necessary from a political one: itinerant evangelical preachers in the South made little headway so long as they retained their revolutionary attitudes. In order to become more accepted socially, they had find acceptance by society's leading figures: the white gentry. This led to numerous changes, including a new emphasis on the supremacy of whites over blacks, pushing women to the margins, acceptance of sinful behavior like drinking and gambling, and stronger defenses of social order.

Southern evangelical churches ended up on the forefront of defending slavery against Northern abolitionist movements, also generally originating in evangelical churches. Southern churches framed the defense of slavery as a religious cause and the Civil War as a Religious War. They lost, but hateful theology never dies -- it just goes underground and waits for new opportunities. In this case, the same basic theology arose again in the fight over segregation a century later.

Today few conservative evangelical Christians are openly racist, but some doctrines encourage racist outcomes. Evangelical Christianity encourages conformity and discourages efforts that "rock the boat," even if to achieve justice. Sharing the gospel takes precedence over social justice for minorities. Evangelical Christianity also generally denies the moral agency of institutions -- thus institutional racism cannot exist and so long as individuals are themselves not racist, then social outcomes must be racism-free. If it appears that blacks are failing, it must be their own fault.

A few Christians do remain openly racist, and sometimes they justify their racism or White Supremacy on the basis of Christian doctrine, just as their ancestors did. Christian racism is also not limited to conservative evangelicals. We can find it across the spectrum of Christian denominations, including Catholicism.

He isn't mean-spirited? He has no problem wanting this to become a christian nation. In other words, if someone isn't christian they have no nation, have no say in the matter, and will just have to toe the line anyway?

How good natured of him.

Of course he is. He could give two fucks about anything but his wallet and power. Don't let his false piety fool you.

In your dreams. Besides being too far right of center, he doesn't have the smarts, nor the charisma to compete with Obama.
Take back the country from Communists? Where? Homosexuals? We don't have the country yet...but we're working at it. Atheists? Are atheists Americans , too? Islamics? The word is Muslims...and there are plenty of them that are bona fide American citizens. So, you're SOL.

Pastor Cary Gordon of Sioux City's Cornerstone World Outreach church said his church will likely webcast the event, although Gordon, an influential GOP activist in Iowa, does not plan to support Perry.

Gordon said he objects to Perry's comments, in light of New York's legalization of gay marriage in June, that the state had the right to enact such measures.

"All of our rights come from God," Gordon said. "Rick Perry becomes the poster child for the problem because he is suggesting men grant men rights."

Perry balances budget on the backs of children and teachers;

http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/03/12/2915833/texas-gov-rick-perrys-alternate.html

It was a classic Perry bomb: Officials in Austin aren't to blame if public school teachers lose their jobs amid state budget cuts, Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday. If you want to blame someone, blame local school boards.
Yes, he actually said that. Out loud. Television cameras rolling.
"As a matter of fact," he added for emphasis, "the lieutenant governor, the speaker and their colleagues aren't going to hire or fire one teacher, as best I can tell."
He sometimes comes up with stuff like that and tosses it into the public arena like a kid playing with fireworks. To keep the record straight, the Texas Constitution puts the burden squarely on the state to create and fund a public education system.

Perry's cuts total 9.8 billion over two years to primary education alone.

Governor Rick Perry led tens of thousands of Conservative Christians in prayer in Houston, and millions are waiting to take America back from the immoral Socialist Hell that the community organizers have created.

My God have mercy on the Dem Party in November 2012.

Blurring the lines between the separation of church and state...what he did was inappropriate, if not unlawful, given his office. Immoral? No...the Tea Party taking the country to the brink of default is what is immoral. Tea Party Conservative? Isn't that redundant?

America is a Christian Nation. Don't expect the Godly to stand by while atheists, Muslims, homosexuals and community organizers try to destroy our way of life.

And you're mentally ill. America is a country of religious freedom. Not only Christian, but of many faiths. It's written into the Constitution, moron. Godly? There is nothing godly about hate, bigotry and racism. Our way of life? You mean hateful, arrogant, self-centered white people who think they own everything? What a friggin boring place this would be if we only had your "way of life" to look forward to.
