government shut down....

PostmodernProphet

fully immersed in faith..
Some 1.4 million active-duty military personnel and their families got a rude awakening Friday, as the federal government notified them that their next paycheck will be cut in half due to the possible government shutdown.

so, explain me something....does anyone think it's suspicious that, when Senators and Representative and their staffers could have been sent notices, it was the active duty military personnel that were the first to get these letters?......

I think the first person who's pay should be cut is the guy who thought this one up......

I must say, its nice to know I'll be working this next week. I was at my unit yesterday on a training day, because my new supervisee was to get promoted from E-1 Airman Basic to E-2 Airman. He got really sick the day before and was at sick call, so the promotion ceremony never occurred, but I checked my e-mail and saw we had all received a lengthy message about how to proceed in the event of the shutdown.

One of my supervisors suggested I stay at work for a full training day (two pay periods instead on one) because we weren't sure when I'd be able to activate my next set of orders we were getting processed. As I am still a Drill Status Guardsman rather than an Active Guard Rerservist, the shutdown would have prevented me from coming in to work orders or to conduct training days, period. Luckily, I am about to bid on, and hopefully secure the AGR hire that I have been looking to get for some months now, but it still would have been annoying, because I would have to still budget for until the selection is made and I get put on full-time orders.

Im glad Obama refused to allow another coninuance of this issue with the Republicans attempt at another temporary spending bill.
