OK people. Lets discuss government regulation. The republicans are against it, though the very foundation of Capitalism is for the government to keep greed in check. Government regulation.
How does it do that? It collects taxes from the wealthy, so a significant portion of the income goes to the Gov to be used for the benefit of the public(and those that are left out of the capitalist loop).
Just so you know? It is impossible to employ everybody in capitalism, mostly due to technology replacing human labor.
Anyways, when companies are exempted from paying their taxes? The government coffers are heavily reduced and so are social programs.......
The argument of the capitalist Corps is that the money will be used to expand and create more jobs, though why not give another a chance at the American dream? To open up competition? Why put all your eggs in one basket?
We have seen the result. When these large companies get so big and outgrow demand? They have to either layoff thousands of employees or shut down. The govs response? Bail them out. Is that capitalism? This is after all the corporate welfare they have been receiving(tax payers money).
The larger corporations have a much bigger advantage to smaller companies because they have larger expenses and thus larger write offs. The small businessman cannot compete, stifling competition.
And the fact that these big corps weasel their way out of paying their share of the debt and social programs? The small businessmen and the middle class are left with the bulk of the burden.
That is why so many small businessmen are burdened with high taxes. That's not capitalism.
