The only thing the private sector cares about is profit. That's not a bad thing most of the time - but when it comes to "maintaining the cleanliness of our air & water?" Sorry - the private sector won't do that, unless there is profit in it. And most of the time, there isn't.

Same with cheap public transportation, natural resources, education, disaster relief & most on that list. We get it; you don't like the police, you don't like firefighters, and you don't like gov't. But you're really not right when you make sweeping statements like the one above.
