Here is what it said:

Friday, April 25, several thousand schools across the nation will be observing "Day of Silence (DOS)." DOS is a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools.

AFA is joining other family-oriented groups in urging parents to keep their children at home that day if their local school is participating in the DOS project. By remaining silent, the intent of the pro-homosexual students is to disrupt the classes while promoting the homosexual lifestyle.

DOS is sponsored by an activist homosexual group, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). DOS leads the students to believe that every person who identifies as a homosexual, bisexual or cross-dresser is a victim of ongoing, unrelenting harassment and hate. Students are taught that homosexuality is a worthy lifestyle, homosexuality has few or no risks, and individuals are born homosexual and cannot change. Those who oppose such teaching are characterized as ignorant and hateful bigots.

I have never heard of such before. Kind of wierd stuff but I don't have to worry about it here.
 
I looked up "day of silence". It's a day devoted to protesting the bullying & harassment of homosexuals. It's not to "promote the homosexual lifestyle."

What does AFA stand for?
 
Yes but you see if people like leaningright are not allowed to bully and harass homosexuals then it will be like they approve of homosexuals. See anything that is seen as tolerence is counted as promotion of the homosexual agenda. So AFA send these things out. I guess if you are on their mailing list they assume that you are stupid enough follow their line of thinking that tolerence equals approval or promotion of the idea. I personally am not stupid enough to be on those mailing lists.

Just using their own logic against them. If supporting DOS is promoting homosexuality then being against DOS is being in favor of Bullying and Harrassing. Because that is what DOS REALLY is not what the fucking theocrats on the right want us to blindly believe it is. AFA says that DOS is promoting the Homosexual agenda and knows that their followers will not even LOOK THE THING UP. It took Onceler, what 12 minutes to counter the initial post? leaningright could have done the exact same thing but would rather ignorantly suggest that the AFA mailing was correct.
 
Hey Soc I did not notice that Leaning was supporting that group ? All religious people get those things. I still have people forwarding those things to me from when I was chairman of the trustees for the neighborhood church. I just see who they are from and delete them.

If you didn't think that it was truthful or you didn't support their agenda why would you "THINK" it was wierd and why would mention that you don't have to WORRY about it? If you are smart and look shit up and see that AFA is full of bigoted shit you would know that there would be nothing to be worried about in the first place.
 
I don't know; when I saw the post, I saw it as more leaning putting it on here as an FYI, and wondering what it was (instead of googling; I have no problem with that).

LR's a smart dude; I have no doubt that he is strongly opposed to any bullying or harassment of homosexuals. You can't control what mailing lists you get added to. I certainly don't agree with everything that ends up in my inbox.

I'm glad he posted it. This kind of propoganda/twisting of intentions is pretty despicable by the AFA...

I am concerned about bullying and such in schools for any reason. The gay thing should not even enter in and should be covered under no bullying rules anyway.

IMHO both sides are making a fuss and spinning on this.

Thank you. There are areas where black and white bullying is an issue and areas where hispanics and blacks have issues. Like you said why not support a no bullying policy as a whole?
 
LOL, believe it just a couple of years ago I was chairman of the board of trustees at the local church. I was not a hypocrite though I told the pastor I did not believe before he nominated me for the position.

btw I was a churchie for about the first 15 years of my life. No choice, get beat or and goto church or just goto church.

I am sorry that I didn't clarify. I thought it was a wierd email to get trying to get me to withhold my kid from school on that day because of an event I have heard/read/seen nothing about. Of course I don't support bullying gays and certainly don't support any sort of violence toward them. Most here know that of me by now.
 
ok then I apologize for my completely misinformed and some what clouded assessment of the post. I think I am too argumentative today and should probably lay of the site for the rest of the day. Again, sorry for mischaracterizing you.
