So he says he resigned but the Whitehouse says he didn't resign but doesn't work there anymore.

I think many of us have claimed to all and sundry that we have just told our boss to "stick your feckin' job up your feckin' arse" to hide the fact that we have been, quite unceremoniously, asked to "leave the building immediately and never darken our door again".
 
I've always been amused by the whole quit versus fired issue. Especially when it is permitted to help someone save face, even though they've angered you enough to warrant firing.
 
Gorka was fired. He's been on the chopping block for months. He has no real credentials, couldn't get a security clearance, is thought of as a buffoon in the intelligence community. The only think he had going for him was his snark, and his looking like a 2nd rate James Bond villain.

Senior White House foreign policy official Sebastian Gorka reportedly drew up a plan to partition Libya into three parts on a napkin and presented it to a European diplomat, The Guardian learned.

The diplomat called the plan "the worst solution" for Libya, according to the newspaper. Gorka is vying for a position as White House special envoy to Libya, a country that has been immersed in conflict since the death of its Prime Minister Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 upended its political order.

The Guardian reported that Gorka has "alarmed" diplomats with his views on Libya.

Democratic senators press for more information on Sebastian Gorka's neo-Nazi ties


Top Democrats in the Senate are seeking to confirm Trump administration official Sebastian Gorka is under investigation for not disclosing he was a member of a Hungarian neo-Nazi organization in his U.S. naturalization application.

"As a senior counterterrorism adviser, Mr. Gorka is in a position of great importance and public trust," U.S. Senators Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Ben Cardin, D-Md., wrote in a letter to the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice released Monday. "The American people are entitled to know if a senior White House official is under criminal investigation."

Leaders of Vitézi Rend, a group the State Department considers to have once been under the direction of Nazi Germany, have identified Gorka as a member who took a "lifelong oath of loyalty," according to reports cited by the senators.

Durbin, Blumenthal and Cardin originally called for an investigation of Gorka in March.

The trio acknowledged the departments often do not comment on investigations, but do sometimes confirm they are ongoing.

"We are also concerned that, according to numerous media reports, Mr. Gorka has been unable to obtain a security clearance, which could be a result of an ongoing criminal investigation," they wrote. "It is unclear how Mr. Gorka can effectively advise the president on counterterrorism and other national security matters without a security clearance.
