From 2019 to 2020, the relative increase in the rate of firearm-related deaths of all types (suicide, homicide, unintentional, and undetermined) among children and adolescents was 29.5%

They're onboard with conflating suicides in that figure too. Take those out and they got nothing. In the case of suicide by gun, they person could and likely still would commit suicide by hanging, cutting, poison, or whatever. That one as a figure in firearms deaths is a canard used by the gun control lobby to make their position stronger and nothing more. If tomorrow, all guns in the US disappeared, people who wanted to commit suicide would still exist and still manage to succeed without them.

Yes, accidents with firearms would disappear, as would homicides where the firearm made a difference in the outcome (shooting someone at a distance for example). But not suicides. Someone wanting to commit suicide doesn't think Gee, I want kill myself. My life sucks, but I can't because I don't have a gun to do it with...

Maybe they don't like clowns. Maybe they have coulrophobia (Fear of clowns). Maybe the clowns in a drag show sexualize their performance often enough and seriously enough that they should be prohibited from performing in front of children.

You asked why. I provided several possible reasons. Not being a Republican, and not knowing their reasoning for their position on this as a group, all I can do is speculate. But all three answers I gave are reasonable ones as to why, with the third--the performance is sufficiently sexualized most of the time--as being one that any reasonable person would consider a reason for banning this practice.

The GOP cares so very much for #2, but they just can't seem to get behind supporting the right of free speech.
