no one ever suggested that you needed to compromise your stance on the issues. Does that stance require you castigate your opponents as bolshevik twats? Of course it doesn't. My point here has been that the GOP needs to seriously rethink its platform and its philosophy. Do you WANT to be a more inclusive party, or are you happy with cornering the angry white aging demographic... And if you are, how long do you think you can continue to be a force on the national stage with those limits on your base? It would seem to me that the GOP is smart enough to figure out that angry white folks will not be sufficient to win the white house in 2016 and beyond, so, you probably should start trying NOW to figure out a way to EFFECTIVELY reach out to hispanics and blacks and other ethnic and social demographics that you have, heretofore, dismissed. But... from MY perspective, most rank and file GOP foot soldiers are not ready to ditch the angry white guy brand and lighten up. My sense is that your party is at a crossroads.... You can strive for ethnic and philosophical purity and bet against house odds that there are enough angry white folks out there after eight years of - to you - an offensive negro in the white house to win the executive branch back for your side in 2016, or you can read the tea leaves and realize that multi-ethnicity is here to stay, and embrace it and re-tune your message to try and capture some of the conservative thinking people out there who are NOT white, but, as of right now, can't bring themselves to affiliate with y'all because you come across as a whites only club.

We can split into two, the Rightist Democratic party and Leftist Democratic party. There is more than enough ideological diversity in the Democratic party itself, we don't need the lunatics in the far rightist Republican party through our political spectrum off kilter.

Actually, no there isn't. The Demotwat party marches in lockstep with Marxism. Sorry, but we need a solid Conservative party to counter the rampant Communism your side espouses.

In California there are groups working with young conservative Hispanics to help groom them to run for local offices with the hope that they will continue to grow into higher and more powerful offices.

I don't care about this one person in Florida switching parties. For all I know the Democrats might have offered him more money and as a capitalist he jumped at the opportunity. I do think it is suicide nationally for the party to ignore Hispanics.

Conservatives are in the business of self delusion. The want to conserve things as they are, but things keep changing, so they keep changing their list of sacrosanct things that should never change.

The funny thing is when medicare was first being discussed as a possible medical solution for the nation's elderly, conservatives called IT socialism. America has moved steadily to the left for the past century or more and the right has been dragged, kicking and screaming alongside the entire way. Things that were once far left wacko ideas now sit squarely in the middle of the mainstream of American political thought. Sure... You can say that America is a center-right nation, but that "center" is WAY further towards the left than it was fifty years ago. Progressive liberalism always wins.... And after they have brought some new idea into the mainstream, the conservatives adopt it and don't want THAT to ever change. Looking back on my life, it has been quite fun to watch that phenomenon play out over and over again.

How was there a "conservative revolution" this past 30 years as people have called it if everything is moving further to the left during this time?

what are some of the major hallmarks of this supposed "conservative revolution"? Have they repealed medicare, or medicaid, or social security? Have they brought down the national debt and brought strict fiscal sanity to Washington? On the "social" conservative side, have they passed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage? Have they overturned Roe v Wade? what are the grand accomplishments of this revolution other than slowing down the rate of liberal progress? That has always happened from time to time... Progressivism marks time for a decade or so, and then it picks right back up where it left off. it has NEVER retreated and it has NEVER given back any of its truly major victories.
