I am not even considering Sharpton in the same world as Bernie Mac & Isaac Hayes.

Bernie Mac was funny, and he will be missed.

But Isaac hayes was one of a kind. He was a pioneer in soul music, a tireless worker in numerous causes, and had a voice that was smooth as silk.

I don't recall any of his music being vulgar, but it was sexier than anything at the time. Want a memorable romantic encounter? Turn the lights down, light a few candles, and put on Hot Buttered Soul.
 
I love Issac Hayes music. I was disappointed in him when he was on South Park and got mad because they were making fun of Scientology but he had no problem with all the other fun they made of other religions.

Was it his job, role, or function to stand up for christianity, Islam, or anyother religion?

Do christians stand up for Islam?

How about jews? .. they stand up for Islam?

I knew him, and admitedly, he was a bit over the top about scientology .. but he saw an affront to a religion he believes in AND at the expense of ending a good paying job that required little of his time he took a principled stand.

That being said ... "Elephant Makes Love to a Pig" is the funniest cartoon ever made.
