Diversity Makes Greatness
There were 9 peaks as the pandemic surged in waves over nearly 3 years. The highest worldwide peak occurred in early 2022, with several smaller ones after, the latest being in December. It appears the disease has transitioned to endemic and vaccines will now be yearly, similar to flu.
Thanks to everyone who supported the thread and more importantly took the disease seriously, doing all they could to prevent spread.
If everyone had been more responsible, particularly President Trump, far fewer would have died from it.
The Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread will no longer be updated with regular COVID levels data. There is a closing statement posted in the thread.
What an experience and eye-opener the pandemic was for all of us. It was interesting to see the difference between those who are patriotic, socially conscious, ie woke, and those who are selfish and went into denial about facts accepted the world over. Over 6 million people died worldwide, including more than a million Americans.
Because people want to believe conspiracy theories and resist government or authority, there will always be capitalists ready to exploit that for profit. And sadly, that made the pandemic worse than it needed to be. Many prominent figures and far more private individuals died for lies.
Trump likely caused hundreds of thousands of needless deaths with his selfishness and irresponsibility.
Great thanks go out to all the front line workers and particularly health care workers who put their lives at risk to serve society. Well, done America! (Despite terrible executive leadership for almost the entire first year of the pandemic.)
