It's a conservative Sunni state, much like SA I would suppose,and the last thing I would be doing is drinking with friends like this woman did.

You can drink in any hotel, bar or nightclub in Dubai but not in public areas. I hate the bloody place to be honest, but Emirates is a bloody good airline and flies from Manchester to Bangkok via Dubai. One thing you should never do though is think that the police are on your side, especially women, as they are not.

Yes exactly, there have been many cases of that exact same thing happening in the UAE. However it is usually Filipina, Thai and African women and it is all swept under the carpet.
