Germany giving up on Nuclear power

Maybe in the short-term, though that claim of safety is dubious at best. Are our plants safe from terrorist attack? What happens if they are unmanned for a period of time? A think tank could probably come up with dozens of scenarios we're not prepared for.

And that's short-term. Long-term the waste and need for adequate structure goes into timeframes that most humans can't really comprehend. As a species, we probably shouldn't be playing w/ nukes...

Oh yeah, they're safe from terror attacks.

How many houses are right next to either?
Pripyat is growing, interestingly enough almost entirely due to tourism. I'll have to google 3 mile, but that's irrelevant, as it's entirely safe to live there, Pripyat is another story, but as I mentioned earlier, it only occurred because they purposely turned off crucial systems and tested what would happen. Lighting my hand on fire to see what would happen isn't indicative of how dangerous fire is, only how stupid someone is.

Only retards would give on a technology for others that are proven to cause more environmental problems and deaths.

Answer none
Answer is irrelevant to the discussion at hand. If we were talking land values, then your 'point' might mean something. However since we're talking about the efficiency, safety, and viability of nuclear power, your question and self answer are meaningless. You may as well ask the percentage of chromium in a 1969 Camero.

Ahhh, and now it begins.

A major industrial and economic nation has decided to say NO to the religion nuclear power plants. There will be accusations of political motives along with the slew of half truths regarding how safe nuke plants are. But the gauntlet has been thrown, and let us see if the people are willing to ban together, educate themselves, and take their destiny into their own hands.

Germans aren't stupid. Mr. Mercedes Benz and Mr. BMW and Mr. Volkswagen and Mr. Piston Bully will quietly meet with people in charge and tell them that they need electricity to make stuff, or would they rather see these plants move to Brazil? Or perhaps France? :)

I doubt Germany will be able to fully 'go green' if they wish to totally abandon nuclear energy.

Germany is no1 in solar
and they don't shit thier pants over oil
Also they're the largest wind users. Still accounts for less then 10% of their total power production. France, Europes largest nuclear energy user, interestingly has the CHEAPEST energy costs and lowest pollution levels in Europe. Of couse they allow their nuclear waste to be reclaimed, which drops output of waste 95%. We don't allow that process here in Americq, because fuck you that's why.
