George Zimmerman armed when stopped for speeding in Texas

FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports.


According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas.



The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station. The officer then told Zimmerman he could go on his way if he had no criminal issues.


The incident was captured on the officer's dashcam.



At some point during the traffic stop, Zimmerman asked the officer whether he recognized him from television and the officer said he did not, the station reports. When asked where he was going, the 29-year-old Zimmerman reportedly told the officer, no place in particular. He was released on a warning.

since it was only a warning, that speeding may have only been 1 or 2 MPH over the limit, if he was speeding at all. and it's not illegal to have a gun in your car in texas. so again, what was stupid other than asking if he'd been recognized?
 
That's ok, STY, if you think it wasn't a dumb thing to do, you go right on thinking that.

I hope Z continues to do this kind of stuff that I feel is dumb and you feel isn't. Really. Z, keep right on doing it.

is not illegal

it is not wrong.

it is a complete non-issue.

you gun grabbers simply don't get it. It's not a mark against you if you have a gun.

If it were an equation it would be speeding + gun = 5
(where gun = 0 and speeding = 5).
 
Actually, I believe Texas has a reciprocal agreement with Florida where CCW permits are concerned. So it was not stupid.

Since he was aquitted of the charges, he is free to carry.
 
zimmerman now has a reason more than ever to always be armed, with all of those that have threatened his life. He may have to put down another criminal soon and I can stand up to defend him once more.

i think it was in response to the officer saying "why would you say that" to zimmerman saying "no where in particular" for where he was going. he was basically saying it wouldn't be smart to announce where he is going given how high profile he is.

Yeah yeah...your boy's a douchebag just like Rana said and he's going to end up dead or in prison. His future can best be understood by looking at OJ. Although my money says he ends up in a worse spot even than that.

he is not oj. oj was guilty. zimmerman will never be in prison. he has always acted within the law. He is an upstanding citizen. He's not going to go rob people. He defends himself, like any upstanding citizen should.

but maybe the person that has been right about zimmerman for 1.5 years will be wrong about next time, and the people wrong about everything will be right. Maybe we live in upsidedown world.

yeah a retired magistrate from another state. that's really relevant right now. that's why he mentioned who he is. you have gone off the rails.
 
it's pretty clear he was just saying he didn't want to mention his direction because of who he is. any encounter with zimmerman will be going up online and could endanger his safety. It's a perfectly plausible reason and makes 100% sense and that's what you can see directly from that context.

Case in point: this thread and the website in the link.

Usually it wouldn't be a bright idea to bring up who you are when you don't neccesarily know who will and who wont agree with your actions in a highly polarized country concerning yourself.

but instead you just saunter into this thread drooling all over the place going "hueheuhehe, douche, lol... magistrate, what a douche, lol"
