MINNEAPOLIS – An autopsy commissioned by George Floyd's family determined that "asphyxiation from sustained pressure was the cause" of Floyd's death in an incident that has sparked tense protests and violence across the nation.

Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Allecia Wilson performed the autopsy and said there was "neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain," Floyd family attorney Benjamin Crump said Monday.

They added that "weight on the back, handcuffs and positioning were contributory factors because they impaired the ability of Mr. Floyd’s diaphragm to function.

"What we found is consistent with what people saw," Baden said. "There is no other health issue that could cause or contribute to the death. Police have this false impression that if you can talk, you can breathe. That’s not true."

Does that mean the practice of choking out a Suspect with a knee on the neck will be outlawed?
Or just that the tactic can still be used as long as the Suspect doesn't die?

Holy smokes! So it WASN'T just a big coincidence that he happened to die while handcuffed behind the back and having his neck pressed to the ground by a cop's knee. You would think if the cop is trying to protect lives he would check on him after he went unresponsive. We never saw that happen.
 
It was probably not the knee on the neck that actually caused the death of the man.

WHen the 3rd plain as day video was released, it showed the other officers using there full weight on the man's body to keep him pinned down. ANd a 4th officer watching from above who just stood there and watched the other 3 officers murder the man.

The one that probably actually killed him was the one who had his full weight on the man's chest, making it impossible for the man's chest to be able to expand and take in oxygen.

The chest has to be able to expand to be able to draw in oxygen.

So, all of these idiots are murderers and contributed to his death.

The film clip also demonstrates that the man stopped breathing and the officers still had their full weight on the body for over 2 1/2 minutes after the man stopped breathing.

They made sure he was dead as if it were a calculated intentional death.

Then they tried to cover up their crime by taking the dead man's body and cramming it into the back seat of the squad car.

The officers made no attempt to try and save the man's life.

It’s certainly plausible that Floyd’s weight [belly size, to be blunt] compressed his diaphragm such that he slowly suffocated to death. Though in a manner that probably wouldn’t occur in a healthy individual.

That the cop was able to obstruct Floyd’s trachea with his knee—without breaking Floyd’s neck first, not so much.

I see no reason to question it.

Intelligent folks with common sense wait until the medical professionals and scientists release their results. Morons make their minds about things they have no expertise or first hand knowledge of and believe what they are spoon-fed by a lynch mob's popular opinion. Calling them "Nazi cops... born in the wrong decade and in the wrong country" while never having met them, just confirms that you described yourself.

I doubt there’s any obvious evidence of trauma.

Any trauma would be in the neck area and it’s not plausible the knee to the neck caused Floyd’s death. They may have inferred that the cause of death was Floyd being forcibly held in the prone position for an extended period—with his head turned to the side.

Big belly in prone position leads to compressed diaphragm+compromised airway+weak heart—->death in 8-9 minutes.

That combination of factors is enough to make anesthesia skittish in surgery. That’s when you see them forcibly pumping air into the lungs of obese patients laying on their belly [prone position].

Floyd likely suffocated—just not in the sense most people think.

And there is some ‘wiggle room’ for a good defense team in that. We’ll see how it goes.

It means nothing about that unless communities start dealing with far-right cops. They have to weed out the crazies. We have to train better and lead them better. That takes time and money. It takes putting real law and order people in power who respect the law and rights of those cops encounter.
