Geithner's Plan

What will his not being trusted mean for recovery? Didn't Obama say last night that Geithner would wow everyone, umm, because he was so qualified?

Most all of the "experts" do not have a clue, they thought everything was going fine till a bit over a year ago. And even then they thought it would just be a bump.

None of them hav a clue how to save the dying whale.
The truth is we need to abandon trying to save the whale and concentrate on the smaller fishes.

But that's what they were elected or appointed for. So they need to be held accountable.

I said this would happen the very moment Obambi appointed Geithner .. but everybody was too busy dancing to the music and listening to the sweet sounding bullshit that was coming from Obambi's mouth to deal with the fact that Geithner, as is most of Obambi's economic team, was a failure who was in full support of the policies that have destroyed our economy.

The belief that somehow appointing failed money changers would result in some "team of rivals" was just a bunch of crap that I have no idea hoiw anyone could have swallowed.

usc believes that the United states' economic system, is dead, okay? So your comment in that context is senseless. It's like watching an apple talk to an orange.

You are all about; let's declare the obama adminstration a failure today, and he is all about, our economy isn't coming back, it's been destroyed for good.

I don't know that he's right, but that's what he belives, and there's no point in trying to make political points off of that belief. I hope he's wrong, and unless your independently wealthy, you should too. Though I guess if you are a tenured teacher it really doesn't matter to you either. Who knows.

I find people here to be more and more annoying. Maybe because this is real to me. And to most, actually all, of the people I know. Except for one of my close friends who is actually a tenured professor.

It's just so old.

No, I was alarmed by Summers, and didn't know Geithner, but once I looked into him, I figured it would be Summers calling the shots anyway, and I think that is the case, and I think more and more people are figuring that out.

I don't know if Volker is going to manage to muscle his way in, but he appears to be trying to. And I don't know if that would help anyway.

i'm sorry, but you're wrong, bush is to blame. just listen to obama, giethner et al... and all you hear is how bush screwed us up.

not a peep about geithner causing the market to tank nearly 400 points in a day because of is ineptitude in explaining the plan.

with that said, wall street should have more self reliance and not become fearful because the government won't bail them out.

I agree and you stated these thoughts when I was warning about Summers and Geithner. I should qualify my remarks with "partisan" .. which I don't consider you to be. Just being a democrat or a republican doesn't necessarily define one as a partisan/subject to the Crown.

I hope you see what I was talking about when I criticized the appointment of both of them.

There is evidence that Summers is indeed calling the shots .. much as he was during the Clinton years when he was slid into Treasury through the back door.

Why would such a failed, disgraced, and rejected man be so important?

There is an answer .. but it would make everyone run away from this thread .. so I'll save it.

Do tell...

Screw their contrition. Screw their second chances. Screw their symbolic gestures. Put them all out on the street and start over. They KNEW they were building a bubble. IT'S WHAT THEY DO. It's what they're gonna do again.

I'm not expressing an opinion. I'm not informed enough about this issue to speak with any authority on it. I'm simply trying to understand the various views and positions.

As a libertarian, you shouldn't admit lack of knowledge about economic issues. You might lose cred and not get invited to parties by other libertarians... :)

(I'm being somewhat serious, as I admire the online libertarians I have read for generally knowing more about economics than everyone else)

:clink:

Well I know probably more than most people on this board, but what's important is that I am capable of understanding how relatively little that really is. If anyone wants to debate drug policy, the 2nd amendment or entitlement spending with me I will talk circles around you, but this is not an issue where I am particularly well informed.

I could certainly lecture desh or uscitizen on economics, but that hardly makes me some great authority. The beginning of wisdom is recognizing and admitting your own ignorance.
