I'm not surprized. I lived in Iowa in the Quad Cities for 7 years and I can tell you two qualities those Hawkeyes are famous for. Their hospitality and their fairness. Your typical Hawkeye would more than likely consider gay marriage a private matter between two people and it would only be fair to mind your own business about such a matter.
