LOL, it's hilarious you wasted all that time on a load of shit.
Oh, look, the moron didn't get the memo that non substantive brush offs are lazy, not actual arguments. You ignored most of my points, that's intellectual laziness.
If you REALLY owned a business, you'd know that demand isn't typically dented by a corporate tax hike or a tax on the rich.
Apparently you don't, but I do know that it depends. If demand won't sustain prices, and a profit can still be made, a company will let tax hikes chip away at profits, just as long as what remains is still worthwhile. Also, it won't have much of an effect one demand if across the board tariffs are made on products which encompass the vast majority of products we import from China, Mexico, and Canada, which is just about all the products sold in Walmart, Target, and similar stores where Trump's base largely purchase their goods. In that case, prices will rise because consumers won't have cheaper American alternatives. That being true, then consumers will make sacrifices in some areas of their budget, this can have a negative affect on jobs and the economy. The middle class is the engine of jobs, and shrink their disposable income with taxes and tariffs the result of this across the board scenario, and you negatively affect the economy. . Over the years, free marketers (which the right have just about always laid claim to being) and liberal-libertarians (such as myself) have been against tariffs (except where strategically placed, which is not what Trump is doing, he's doing it willy nilly for stupid retaliatory and conditional reasons which are irrelevant, such as 'stopping fentanyl). So, I don't know where you get this crap. But, rest assured, Trump is an idiot.
A massive tax on a specific item, like when libtards go after smokes with their divine intervention, sure, that can hit demand. But whatever business you're whining about had its own issues - like shit management, a product that's garbage, services that are so last century, or again, just plain sucking because of libtard management. I've run more than one business, and when taxes went up, we played the waiting game until other companies, plagued with the problems I mentioned, started to tank or jack up their prices. I've covered this, maybe it went over your head. Don't cry because you're incompetent, low taxes or high demand won't fix your stupidity.
Sure, there are lots of factors, depends on the specifics in any example.
And all your other predictable BS arguments? They're just the same old, tired libtard lines when reality smacks you in the face. I could dissect each one and obliterate your little theories, but I'm not wasting my breath again.
Of course you can't, you are a moron, morons don't like to engage, it's too much for their tiny brains.
I've had these debates a million times, and let's face it, morons like you never admit defeat, no matter how much hard evidence is shoved in your face. You'll still be an idiot when I'm done, so why bother? I hope, for the sake of your employees, should you ever open another business or if you're still clinging to one, you wake the hell up so they might actually have jobs tomorrow.
Now I have some money to make, I'll check back later for more of your wisdom. ROFL
Well, TobyToneDeaf, you magnificent monument to mediocrity, you half-baked tycoon of make-believe, you legend in your own lunch break. Here you are, pounding your chest about your business acumen, yet somehow you’ve managed to miss the fundamental principles of economics like a drunk guy trying to find the keyhole in a blackout.
First off, demand isn't dented by tax hikes? Oh, sure, let me guess -- gravity isn’t real either, right? It’s just another “libtard hoax” cooked up by those dastardly physicists? See, what you’ve done here is take one extreme example -- sin taxes on cigarettes -- and decided that’s the only case where demand elasticity matters. That’s like saying,
“The only way to get wet is to jump in the ocean,” while standing in a goddamn rainstorm.
You forgot to mention the part where demand for cigarettes has a lot to do with ADDICTION. People will cut spending elswhere, if needed, to support addiction. I smoked from 1964 until 1986, probably before you were born I made that mistake of starting, so don't tell me otherwise.
Demand is affected by price increases (if wages and salaries are too slow to catch up, which they often are). Demand is also affected by other factors, no one denies that. But in general terms. That’s Economics 101, sunshine. But you, the seasoned "business owner," think that companies can just "wait out" tax hikes while their competitors tank? Oh, brilliant strategy -- just sit there twiddling your thumbs while your competitors raise prices, cut costs, automate jobs, or offshore production. Meanwhile, you’re waiting like a clown at a bus stop for an industry collapse that
isn’t coming. Any corporate board that puts up with such idiocy must be smoking something.
And let’s talk about your little fantasy of corporate invincibility -- as if every business in America is some untouchable juggernaut immune to rising costs, and only the "weaklings" fold under pressure. Yeah, tell that to the thousands of small businesses that got crushed under Trump's trade war. Farmers got obliterated so hard that Trump had to throw $28 billion at them like hush money, and manufacturers saw their supply chains go to hell. But no, it’s all because of
“libtard management,” right? That’s the problem? Not, you know, the actual policies that wrecked American production and exports?
Oh, and that smug, chest-puffing closer -- "I have money to make, I’ll check back later"—classic. That’s the internet tough guy’s way of saying,
“I have no real rebuttal, so I’m gonna pretend I’m too busy stacking gold bars to engage with your logic.” But we both know you’ll be back, because deep down, you love the punishment. You crave it. You live for this.
So go ahead, Toby. Go make your imaginary millions running your imaginary empire while the rest of us deal with
actual economics in
actual reality. Because while you’re patting yourself on the back for being a legend in your own mind, or rather, a right wing lemming in your own mind the rest of us are out here doing the math, and buddy, your numbers don’t add up.
