Putin does not hold any significant Ukrainian cities outside of Kherson nearly three weeks into his illegal invasion.
I don't think he expected that. I think he expected cities like Kharkiv to greet him as a liberator

Fairly dumb reply. Putin couldn’t do the military calculations himself. He would have relied on his generals and they evidently oversold their advantage. Now the army is leaving its dead behind.
