French PM Manuel Valls says refugee crisis is 'destabilising' Europe

It's not bullshit. This power vacuum in the middle east needs to be fixed and we can't just send these people back there and to argue that the well proven fact that emigration is a time tested and proven method of undermining radicalized mass movements is simply denying reality.

Can and should the U.S. do more to help? Hell yea....we could take up to a million of these refugees, distribute them throughout the country and hardly even notice it.

Or we could just let them all settle in Ohio. :D

I mean, what would be the harm??

With a European Union population of some 505 million, a million more refugees adds what – 0.2%?

Why exactly are we supposed to believe this is driving European elites into profound, rightward shifts and collapsing democracy across that continent? I find it easier to believe that after seething for decades, bottomless social, economic and political contradictions are breaking forth and leading to nationalist movements and the re-militarization of European borders.

Both WWI and WWII followed ugly, inter-imperialist rivalries. Before our eyes, the post WWII system of relations is again breaking down. We should know where this is heading. Perhaps our glorious, would-be leaders will address this, but I’m not holding my breath.
