Do you realise how many products come from oil other than petroleum distillates? How about pharmaceuticals, plastics and helium? Most of helium comes from oil wells, bet you didn't know that, and the world was running out until new sources were discovered in places like Tanzania.

Defying a White House veto threat, the Republican-controlled House on Friday approved a bill to lift a 40-year-old U.S. ban on crude oil exports. The House approved the bill on a 261-159 vote. Supporters said an ongoing boom in oil and gas drilling has made the 1970s-era restrictions obsolete.

President Obama signed the 2016 spending bill Friday, including a provision that would allow the export of U.S. crude for the first time in more than 40 years.

The $1.1 trillion omnibus budget got President Obama's signature late afternoon Friday, even though he threatened to threatened to veto legislation lifting the ban.

The ban started in the 1970s as an attempt to protect Americans from price spikes, some of which were caused by Middle Eastern countries using oil as a political weapon.

All Biden did was ban NEW oil permits on federal land, why can't the oil companies use the thousands of permits to drill with the existing federal permits or better yet, PRIVATE permits?

Why do they need the "Gubmint" land to drill?

200K jobs in louisiana? bullshit. i thought right wingers were against government handouts....but apparently only if it goes to people who need it, not to rich ass, multi-billion profit oil and chemical companies with so many sweetheart deals and tax subsidies and now, with trump, no regulations to stop them from destroying the environment and threatening the health and safety of people living near their polluted sites and refineries.
