Tell me one country that has a constitution with a first amendment that does whatever your first amendment does. That has to be one of the most ridiculous statements of the day.
BTW I totally agree with you about Americans in Hong Kong. Occasionally you meet one who is reasonably acceptable providing you dont get to know them too well. One moved close to us a couple of weeks ago, he has something to do with IT at one of the unis. Seems like an OK sort of chap... but American... so I'll have to be on my guard in case he wants to shoot me or hug me. I don't know which would be worse.

He'll probably just complain a ton about things so that somebody will say something inane like, "If you don't like it you can just leave!" Then he'll try to hug you to make you understand how much he likes y'all.

It is inherent in our nature to express negative opinions. It's been drilled into us as a "right" from childhood, we simply assume this right wherever we go and in times and places that others assume are inappropriate. For Americans, there is almost no time that it is inappropriate to speak out against a "place" while it may be rude to talk about a "person"...

And we are talking about centuries of it being ingrained into our psyche.

The reality is that no place has had this guarantee for centuries like this one has, and you know that in some places they not only don't have it but if they use it they can be imprisoned for it.
 
This freedom to speak is what is great about americanand americans.

When you take you head out of your arse you might see that there are many countries that pride themselves on their freedom to express their opinions. You may THINK you are special, but believe me, pal, you ain't.

Your society is not as free as you believe it is, your speech is not as free as you think it is, your actions are not as free as you think they are. And what you think has been put there by the people who pull your strings. I guess that what truly defines americans is their incredible gullibility.

It depends on the definition of socialism. If you mean the older definition, socialism was basically a synonym for communism. If you mean the newer one, it's basically capitalism with higher taxes.

And really, the new definition of communism seems to be the same as the new one for socialism, except the money is given to corporations instead of the needy.
