There's no slippery slope, dude. I was pointing out the consequence of your request. One of which is that every officer who was an "honorable person" would be compelled to step forward with any concerts or evidence about a President's conduct. If it was up to me, that's exactly how we'd do it for anyone who takes the oath to the Constitution, military or civilian.
 
As far as I’m concerned, if anonymous story tellers lack the balls to do a simple like say ‘yeah it’s me, I made that claim’ then their ‘story’ isn’t worth much.

Agreed if he said it, but what if he didn't? Should someone be forced to step forward for something they didn't do?

As it is, I think it's most probable General Kelly reported to a writer what he remembers Trump saying. Bolton isn't strapped to Trump's ass 24/7. It's impossible for Bolton to remember or have heard everything Trump ever said to Kelly that day or even that hour. Besides, Bolton was probably so used to Trump saying stupid shit that he tuned Trump out most of the time. In the end, General Kelly remains the key figure to attest or dispute the comment.

I agree. If Kelly is not the source, he could at least confirm or deny the source and keep a degree of separation there. Mattis could do the same. Both men the military respect.
