That one was reported. He did grab the bridle. He probably worked with horses in Haiti. He attempted to control the horse, no doubt because the agent was getting overly aggressive
When I first moved from the mts. of Vt. back to NY, I attended an event in NYC with cops on horses doing crowd control. These are specially trained horses, and they do NOT require direct reining. Cops typically use the horse's body to bully pedestrians if they are getting unruly.
I remember observing the cops doing this, and I almost took it upon myself to put this horse on his knees, throwing the cop. I didn't feel like having to go through being arrested, though.
These BP agents either have very poor control over their horses, have very poorly trained horses, or are purposely using the methods that they do on purpose. Which is to use the reins as whips for crowd control. It has absolutely nothing to do with 'rapid response' by the horse, as the agency falsely claims. In fact, direct reining requires two hands, which does not allow the agents to have a free hand for other purposes.
If you watch when they start circling the reins, they aren't getting any 'rapid response' from the horse.
That's exactly what I have been asking. What purpose does spinning the rein serve?
