You know, this is just one of those unusual stories. Usually, in the United States Senate, you find regular Joes - folks with middle class backgrounds and little money to their name, who managed to get elected simply because they strove to do good...

Wow! That's a first.
Of course the fact that his agenda was caring for the little guy would make his fortune different than any fortune in the oligarchy you love, I can think of the non-productive children of the Waltons, Scaifes and Mellons for starters.
