Former Jan. 6 prosecutor accused of stabbing driver in Tampa road rage fight

A former U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor whose tenure included January 6 cases has been accused of stabbing a Florida man in a road rage fight on a bridge outside Tampa, Florida.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested Patrick Douglas Scruggs, a 38-year-old attorney, on the Howard Frankland Bridge after he allegedly hacked up a 35-year-old man with a pocket knife, according to authorities.

The incident began when the victim slumped over in his driver's seat and stopped traffic during the morning rush hour Tuesday.

A pair of went to check on him, and he woke up, hit the gas and crashed into the car in front of him, according to police.

Then he put his car in reverse and backed into Scruggs.....

Eyewitness pictures obtained by FOX 13 Tampa show the lawyer standing outside his car gesturing near the driver's window.

Scruggs is accused of smashing through the window and stabbing him multiple times. Witness Tara Iglinski told the outlet she saw blood covering the victim's arms.

"It doesn't matter who he is," Iglinski said. "What he did was really, really scary. And the way he reacted there was really frightening."

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries but was expected to survive. Scruggs was taken to the Pinellas County Jail, where he was booked on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and armed burglary.

Court records show that Scruggs prosecuted some cases involving the Capitol riot on January 6, irking at least one suspect, who took his complaints to X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.
According to police, he turned the knife on the good Samaritans too, and they left without injury.....

So this is the type of NUTBAG that prosecuted J6 rioters. I'm sure he was fair. I hope he loses his law license and does jail time. He even turned his knife on good Samaritans

Now is that the same Fox “news” that told lemmings as yourself that Domonion swayed the 2020 election? That two poll workers in Georgia submitted bogus ballot they had his under the table? That they even had the proof on video?

Apparently, there is a "type" of person who takes on 1/6 cases from a prosecutorial role.

Law enforcement should probably get right on that, and keep surveillance on all of those prosecutors. Since, ya know - there is a "type."

So are you saying this prosecutor did not stab someone in a rage?

That would be a good idea because he got better bail than he asked for J6 trespassers from him.

Scruggs was released on $65,000 bond. His lawyer released a statement to the Tampa Bay Times.

The statement by lawyer John Nohlgren said Scruggs “has no prior criminal history and has spent nearly his entire career protecting the people of this country.”

The incident was “a chaotic situation involving multiple crashes caused by only one person on one of our area’s busiest bridges,” according to the statement.

“That person was not Mr. Scruggs,” the statement said. “There is much more to this incident than what is being reported, and we are diligently working to bring to light the full facts of what occurred. We urge that the public keep an open mind and withhold from making judgments. We will bring forth all of the facts and make them known to the authorities in the proper forum.”

He helped to prosecute one rioter only, the guy who took Pelosi's lectern. What Scruggs did was terrible and wrong, but you don't need to exaggerate.

That must mean that Trump’s impeachment and the guilty verdicts for sedition must be nullified.

Are you fuckwits really that desperate? Just fucking pathetic.

QAnon light.

I think there is more to the story, than just this. I do agree there was a better way to handle this, but this man that was attacked was putting peoples lives at risk, there were people out of their cars trying to help this man as well, and he almost smashed them between the cars when he rammed them.

And there has been no information provided why this man fell asleep sitting in traffic. He was probably drunker than a skunk.

If the Attorney had of had a gun and shot the drunk idiot, these same gun-toting haters here today would be praising him as a lifesaver come to the rescue.

He could have had a medical condition, but you jump to conclusions, just like that fucking turd who stabbed him.

Well, we will see. The Drunk could have also had a weapon, or tried to run over the attorney for all we know at this point.

Perhaps you are the one jumping at conclusions.

I want to hear what the attorney has to say, as to why he felt so threatened he had to pull out his little pocket knife and stab the man in the arm- more than once.

Why were the drivers of the other two cars, and the Attorney all wanting to smash the widow out! The first couple said they needed to smash the window, and the other driver that stopped to help returned to his car to get something to smash the mans window out. But before he could, the Attorney walked up and smashed the window out with his knife. And then for some reason we don't know, stabbed the man in the arm- obviously more than once.

Perhaps he was trying to get the man's hands off of the steering wheel before he ran over someone and killed them.

I think they were all concerned about getting this man out of his dangerous weapon- HIS CAR! A car is a deadly weapon in the hands of a DRUNK!
