Former CDC director says he believes COVID-19 'escaped' from a Wuhan lab

.

He's not the only one, Richard Dearlove, ex-head of MI6, has said much the same. The Chinese have only fuelled suspicion by refusing inspection of the lab for over a year.

• Robert Redfield, the former CDC director, says he believes COVID-19 'escaped' from a lab in Wuhan, China

• He said the virus may have been circling since September 2019

• Redfield made the comments in a CNN interview on Friday but stressed it was his 'opinion'

• It is the first time Redfield, who was appointed CDC director by President Trump, has stated publicly that he believes COVID-19 originated in a lab

• The debate about the origins have COVID-19 has been ongoing for the past year and has resulted in rising tensions between the US and China

US investigators have been blocked from going to China in a bid to investigate the virus and its origins

• Trump first started speculating that China may have released the virus in lab 'mistake' early last year

• Dr Anthony Fauci told a White House COVID briefing on Friday that Redfield's comments about the Wuhan lab were just an opinion

• The former director of the CDC, Robert Redfield, says he believes COVID-19 'escaped' from Wuhan lab in China and may have been circling as early as September 2019.

The best dates we have are oct 5-11, somewhere in there is the date that it got out of the lab.

This is good, but damn late....too many lies have been told for too long....to many mistakes have been made for too long....our leaders have been shredding their credibility.

it was supposed to cross species by eating bats or something??

The lab is right there.
China has had virus escape from labs before - logic is it infected a worker and escaped

It was known to be working on this 2012 bug from the Mojiang mine in southwestern China’s Yunnan province, which is the vast majority of this chimera, they were working on it with American government money some say.

The bats/wet markets was the ‘official story’ but I’m not sure many people believe that anymore.

There’s a Chinese epidemiologist—a woman I’ve heard speak several times but I forget her name, but she was involved with the Wuhan lab before she fled the country. She claims the virus is a product of gain of function experiments done under the auspices of the CCP. Whether it was released intentionally or escaped from the lab is the only question.

A year ago, she predicted the rise of the variants. Of course, until there’s actual evidence that’s just speculation. Problem is the CCP won’t lay their cards on the table so it can be settled one way or the other. If Covid really is a virus that jumped species, then give everyone access to the Wuhan lab so the lab can be ruled out. That’s the only way the investigation can proceed.

Its too late for that, the evidence in China has been scrubbed at the direction of the Communist Party. The Chinese who know know better than to talk, and if any non Chinese knows first hand what was done and can prove it then they have not been talking.

This woman knows and talks:

Dr. Mi-Leng Yan. She’s on YouTube. For now.

So what if it did? Is the government and nation of China responsible for a lab accident? The only criticism fairly directed at China is the delay in spreading news of the contagion, and that criticism applies regardless of the virus's origin.

Lying to the world about human to human transmission while allowing your own nationals to board flights and become global vectors of transmission is kind of a big deal.

If that was the extent of the CCP’s culpability—that alone, makes them responsible for the pandemic and the resulting global costs and deaths. Suffice to say, wars have been started for much less.

But it may not stop there. It’s very likely it doesn’t stop there.

YES. virtually every organization in China -including business is a SOE (State owned enterprise)

Besides this was a Level 4 lab China is supposed to maintain security

China 'dissapeared' one of them for speaking out

Agreed. The delay in coming clean is the issue, not how the virus originated.

When a licensed motorist kills someone by reckless driving do we hold the state responsible for having issued him a license? On your second point, even with good security accidents happen.

It’s not an issue if the virus was intelligently designed?

Do you mean to say that?

That's a different issue, and not the OP's argument. If the virus was manufactured with government permission then the government of course bears responsibility.
