For hypocrites, attitudes change quickly

If Roy Moore should drop out of his Senate campaign because of accusations, why shouldn't John Conyers resign his seat in the House for the same reason?

I believe neither man should quit unless the accusations are proven.

Congress sets its own ethics rules.
Problem is, if Republicans want to stick it to Conyers, it'll end up biting the GOP in the butt again.

Remember how Republicans term-limited the presidency to 2 terms, because of the 4 terms FDR (D) had?
And remember how that same term limit standard prevented them from returning their demigod Reagan back for a 3rd term?

Lucky thing actually, as Reagan was already losing his marbles before the end of his 2nd term.

I don't see the relevancy.

Conyers has been accused and paid a settlement. As far as I know, he has not admitted doing anything wrong.

Why should he quit?

No one in their right mind is going to pay a settlement for something they did not do.

Your statement is erroneous. Settlements are paid in 97% of civil litigation cases because it is easier and cheaper to resolve most matters out of court, and in the vast majority of these instances there is no admission of wrongdoing.

Untrue; because sometimes the cost of the settlement is less then it would cost to mount a defense.
This is why so many people file suits against cities and the Cops, they know there will be a settlement.

This is interesting to me. If you were accused of doing something that you did not do at all, would you pay a settlement? I have never been in that situation though I think I would fight it tooth and nail.

Correct, except that "sometimes" is actually "almost every time".

Opportunity costs, legal fees, etc. mount up quickly. Plaintiffs and attorneys (like Jarod) know that, so they file suits knowing they'll get an offer to settle. Jarod hasn't taken a case to trial in years, IIRC.

Hate the game, not the player.

There's plenty of info you can find, that supports what I've said.
