Florida teacher suspended after forcing Jehovah’s Witness student to say Pledge

I always stood and covered my heart during the pledge but never said the words under god in them once I had a mind of my own.

I don't believe that, Mott. I also recognize that given the freedom to choose, we can witness who all the traitors are (well, mostly just the lazy fucks...).

I've had this discussion on various boards for ten years now.

Only dictatorships can force people to pledge to a symbol.

What other free country in the world makes such a big a deal out of this?

That's not the point. If you believe in the pledge...then say it...whichever way you want....if you don't..then don't. Coercing someone to say it is the sign of an idiot that doesn't even understand what the freaking pledge is about.

I mean if you believe in liberty and justice for all doesn't it contradict the very meaning of the Pledge of Alegience itself to coerce someone into saying it?

Maybe we should amend the Pledge of Allegience last sentence to ...."and liberty and justice for all...except for those who don't believe in God or participating in public ceremonies." just to make people who aren't capable of critical thinking happy.

One thing I've always wondered w/ the pledge: if you say it once, why do you have to say it again (and again & again?)

A pledge is a pledge.

I agree with all except the exception, which should go "except for those who hate America." :D
