Florida book bans - the first step before burning

I believe that Jarod is an attorney. That would indicate a higher-than-average salary. It's likely that he lives in an affluent area. It's been my experience that parents with more education and income than the average choose to live where the schools pay better and focus on well-rounded educations, not just shunting kids out the door half-formed, like Toxic TOP's school obviously did. So teachers like the one Jarod mentioned are priceless and will most likely be protected by both parents who desire good education, and administrators who desire to offer the very best to their families and students.

We have a great school board and teachers. The problem with my area is that a lot of the wealthy put their kids in expensive private schools. My neighbor goes to school with Baron Trump. I do not believe in that, unless the kid has special needs that are more likely to be accompanied by the private school.

The middle class kids with conservative parents who are afraid of sending their kids to school with “poor” people usually chose Charter schools. For my kids public school is perfect, a more diverse experience and an excellent education if you push for it.

Then get the books for your kids and let them read at home... if that's how you truly feel... do you also agree that children are perfectly capable of evaluating ideas for themselves and need to be exposed to a wide spectrum of ideas and theories ...not just parent approved rules?

I believe education must reach beyond parents otherwise our children are limited by the limits of their parents. High School kids must have the chance to move beyond the limitations of their parents.

I don’t believe in leaving kids much money, but I hope to leave them with more inside than I have.

My inner city teachers never once called me an "inner city thug."
They had the decency to just call me an "obnoxious prick."
Word leaked from the teachers' lounge; I'm not making it up, but I am bragging a little bit.
lol.. I know you're not making that up... you mentioned the lounge.... and I'm going to guess you were a favorite.... I've never referred repeatedly to our students as inner city thugs....we had some, though....all schools do....
;)

I have some family that lives in Florida , a lot of discussion about relocating after almost 30 years

I live here, but there is no way I would have ever moved here with school aged kids. That is more true now than it was when I was raising them. My parents and a job offer I couldn't refuse brought me here. I planned on staying until I retired, but life and love had other ideas. I am now here because of my new family. Not sure I can change that, but we flee every chance we get.

Governor DeSantis is very worried about the feelings of the white kids, and the shame they may have over the actions of their ancestors. But fuck those gay kids!

Anyone who feels shame and guilt about the actions of their ancestors, has got more problems than banning a few books could fix.

Don't you believe that parents and schools have to work together for kids too have the best chance at success?

How, exactly, is providing a list of books that "the government doesn't want you to read" promoting personal beliefs? You keep dodging the question. Is she *forcing* them to read the books? No. Is she encouraging students to read them? Yes. So fucking what.

Which of this would you burn first?

Banned Books

$20 says her secret answer is "all of them".

During the 2021-2022 school year, more than 1,600 books were banned from school libraries. The bans affected 138 school districts in 32 states, according to a report from PEN America, an organization dedicated to protecting free expression in literature.

And the number of bans are only increasing yearly.

Texas and Florida lead the nation in book bans — a revelation that recently spurred Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot to call her city a "book sanctuary."

But what are the most commonly banned books in America, and why are they considered controversial? Here are the 50 most commonly banned books in America from the 2021-2022 school year, with data supplied by PEN America....

It's funny how you filthy leftist maggots don't like being told to sit down and shut the fuck up but don't mind saying it to everyone else. FTL

Who is being told to shut up here? You are so clouded by whatever fucking happened to you personally that you've cast good faith out the window.

You're just fuckin' miserable...all the time...about everything.

You seem really depressed and suicidal.

Some of them do have grand kids , a big motivator

I have no desire to kill anyone unlike you who can only project your perverse desires onto others. You seem quite ready and eager to do it. Filthy leftist maggot.

You seem very unbalanced and emotional.

Something really bad happened to you a long time ago and you never got over it.

A teacher at my kids school keeps a list on her wall of "Books the Government does not want you to read" and offers extra credit for a report on any of them.

This is not a valuable lesson...in any way, shape, or form...

A slight disagreement; Ron is running for President using #45's strategy - fearmonger, foster an Us vs. Them division and conquer American democracy with RW authoritarianism.

Don't you believe that parents and schools have to work together for kids too have the best chance at success?

If you don't want teachers telling you how to raise your kid, then you can't tell teachers how to teach them.

The only reason why Conservatives like Top want to ban books is so that kids can't recognize the tools of oppression when they are used against them.
