France, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland and Hungary are all poised to quit the group, according to nervous economists in the German government. It comes as political leaders sift through the wreckage of yesterday’s referendum result, which resulted in David Cameron quitting as Prime Minister after his Remain campaign was humbled with nearly 52 per cent backing an exit from the union. Brussels chiefs are calling for a quick resolution to the separation of Britain from the European Union. European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said Brexit was “not an amicable divorce”, adding “it was not exactly a tight love affair anyway”.
