Yeh, because the Spanish were noted for their humane treatment and fairness!! Look at that thoroughly nice man Cortes and how well he treated the Aztecs for instance.

Although Columbus was stripped of his governorship, King Ferdinand not only granted the explorer his freedom but subsidized a fourth voyage.

Slavery was illegal in most of Europe at that time and had been for centuries in Italy.
