fired for not joinimg the bible club

that means if you can fire someone for not following your religious practices

You can be fired for NOT wearing a colander on your head and refusing to talk like a pirate on September 19

What was their reaction to that?

The situation was this: We had just moved to Portland from the midwest where us kids had gone to catholic school and I was now going to public school. I had always been less than full of faith, but finally was confronted with the whole confirmation thing. Once it was explained to me what the hell that meant, I realized I didn't want to confirm my faith. I had no faith. So I thought about what I didn't like about the church when I needed a reason to explain myself. My parents were really cool about it. I think they knew I would not do it. My two older sisters were getting confirmed at the same time and I attended maybe the first orientation event, maybe two of them, but i had had enough.

I think this was about the same time the volcano (St Helens) blew up. It was a sign from god that I had made the right choice. LOL

can you be fired for not speaking like a pirate on "talk like a pirate day"?

I like this question. I think religion is about as important as "talk like a pirate day". If you can't fire someone for a silly belief, you shouldn't be able to fire them for silly behavior either.

For sure! Just for the back story here, Toxic Top was orgasming over this story a couple months ago. She was 100% certain that the owner would be weeping and gnashing her teeth because the business would soon fail because of her support of her employees in asking Ms. Slanders to leave. Toxic posted little tidbits she gleaned from her ultra-RWNJ blog sources about continued protests, reservations being made whereupon the diners would rip off their jackets to reveal MAGA shirts, and the booking of reservations wherein no one showed up, in order to fuck up their business. The owner deftly sidestepped that crap, and continues to be a successful business that weathered the RWNJ storm.

Sucks to be Toxic.

Hahahaha! Love this story, especially the significance of the volcano. Amazing that back then your parents were "cool about it" -- apparently they weren't subscribing to the Jesus-or-Hell theory either. Are your sisters still among the faithful?

Your leakage is grossing us out here. Here, a gift from your goddess, no charge!
