Again, on private property the 2nd amendment does not apply. Just as the 1st doesn't matter because Twitter was a private company.

If you have a party or event on private property, you make the rules.

And these are private events not held on gubmint property.

It is a smart move with all the crazed leftist loons. I'm glad he is proactive in that manner.

True. Which goes back to why DeSantis chose a venue that banned guns. Let's be honest, blaming the venue is stupid. The practical reason is what they don't want to admit...which is dishonest.

The Governor is protecting himself; a very successful and coveted Governor with a spine of steel.

He will roll the red wave like a tsunami through Florida and doesn't need ANYONE else's support to do it. His record is more than enough.

He and everyone else saw the planned assassination for Bret Kavanaugh and what the republican Congressman faced on the softball field that day. It is a very smart move, much to the chagrin of the leftist kooks. Ask Steve Scalise about what kind of shot the Bernie Bros are.

Oh well. Sweet November is almost here. Ahhhh.

I expect all politicians to be both liars and hypocrites. It really saves time.

Agreed. Redistricting sewed up the election for him. I doubt anyone but a Republican can get elected in statewide elections for years to come.

Agreed it's a prudent move. The problem for me is the hypocrisy. Then again, since I consider all politicians to be liars and hypocrites, it's not a very big disappointment.

Scalise is alive. Hodgkinson isn't. A good RWer would have had at least two hits per person. It's more than the shooting skills. It's also the tactical skills.

His actions made him the political star he is. Every call he has made was right, his instincts are dead on. He went to bat for Floridians EVERY time and we will show our thanks very soon.

I used to think Jeb Bush was the best Governor Florida ever had, but he pales in comparison with what DeSantis does.

Agreed he's a "star". That's who Americans elect these days. Celebrities and "stars". I'm more mixed on some of his actions. He may have broken several laws with the immigrant thing. He certainly went to bat for the 36ish% of Floridians who are Republicans.

Jeb Bush was a good governor. I think he'd have made a good President, but the memory of his brother plus the bad taste of political dynasties* ruined his chances.

*Both Jeb and Hillary running in 2016 made caused many people to reflect on the idea of Presidents from the same family.
