Sacrificial lambs are not hard to identify.

Fire the Cabinet-level administrators responsible and any underlings implicated in both follies.

That would be a smart thing to do, but I don't think they'll do it. Not after promoting the dudes in the ATF that didn't speak out and moving them around...

So you're saying that President Obama was personally responsible for "promoting the dudes in the ATF that didn't speak out and moving them around"?

BTW, if it transpires that 'gunwalking' operations were conducted during the Bush years, will you blame him, too?

I'm saying that it is the first step in a coverup that can overwhelm him if he doesn't quickly do something like the action in the OP, but it is a sign that it isn't going to happen.

Deniability begins to walk as we learn more, it should have already been done. Now that Holder is caught lying under oath to Congress and hasn't been fired yet, what do you think will happen?

That depends on the outcome of the investigation.

I haven't. I believe that if there is real evidence that the guns "walked" like they did under the "Fast and Furious" program then we'll surely be given that evidence. I also don't believe that "they do it too" is a valid defense.

I especially believe that if guns that "walked" under Bush were used to kill Border Patrol agents we'll hear about it, but it doesn't make it "better" for Obama or an administration that is shuffling people who were principal to the decisions around and handing them promotions. At this point there is zero chance that Obama doesn't know about this program and its consequences. Allowing an agent shuffle is exactly the wrong step to take.

Basically: Bush did bad thing is not good enough to excuse this. Bad thing is still bad, even if Bush did it "too".
