Courts
They do when it is in the courts. At this point it is simply evidence. This is nonsense. They don't grab the gun and throw it at the courthouse, it isn't stored there it is kept in evidence lockers. The gun has not gone missing, it is in evidence. When this reaches that point the gun will be provide as a portion of the evidence.

There is no magic moment where the gun is stored at the courts. That would break chain of custody and is just ignorant of how this stuff happens. There's no shame in the ignorance, but dang. It doesn't take much to research this. The claim that they "lost" the gun is just that... some random claim from interweb morons.
 
Why didn’t they properly secure the gun with proper evidential procedure?

Why did they leave the crime scene for three hours

Why did they refuse the cops WITH A WARRANT ACCESS TO THE CRIME SCENE?

Why did their first statements contain obvious fucking lies
