Organizers of the Women’s March in New Orleans have decided to cancel their Jan. 19 march, saying that participation and fund-raising have dropped “drastically” in the wake of outrage surrounding the national co-chairs.

“Due to several issues we have decided it is necessary to cancel the 2019 Women’s March in New Orleans,” said a post from the National Organization for Women’s Baton Rouge.

The first Women’s March was held the day after President Trump was inaugurated in 2017 to protest his election.

One of the co-founders and leaders of the Women’s March movement told The New York Times that white Jews are among those who “uphold white supremacy.”

Top leaders of the organization have been accused of engaging in or condoning anti-Semitism, and failing to heed the concerns of its thousands of Jewish backers. Controversy surrounding the march also arose from ties to anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has a long history of making anti-Semitic statements.

Last month, the Washington chapter of the Women’s March shut down over concerns of anti-Semitism among the national leadership of the movement.
