Feminist hypocrisy in the news

To be fair to Hillary, her anti-seizure glasses make it virtually impossible to see any evidence of rape or sexual harassment of women in the presence of large donations.

The NYPD secretly recorded disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein apologizing for groping an Italian model — and admitting that he was “used to” behaving that way, according a bombshell report Tuesday.

The incriminating audio clip, posted online by the New Yorker magazine, reveals Weinstein alternating between desperate pleas and angry threats as he tried to get Ambra Battilana Gutierrez into a downtown Manhattan hotel room.

Failing NYT: Women Having to Pay for Own Contraception Means US Is Turning Into Saudi Arabia

After the Washington Post’s “conservative” columnist Jennifer Rubin opined Wednesday that the Republicans were “seeking to impose Christianity on the country,” and make religion “a tool of the state,” The New York Times’ Linda Greenhouse one-upped her by suggesting that the Trump White House was trying turn our country into a Middle Eastern theocracy.

Greenhouse started her Wednesday online op-ed by bemoaning how the U.S. was turning into a country with less rights for women than Saudi Arabia...because they may have to pay for their own birth control:

Saudi women are gaining the right to drive. American women are losing the right to employer-provided birth control.

The first development signifies a theocratic kingdom’s bow to the inexorable onslaught of modernity. The second is a cynical bow to the forces of reaction against modernity.

It would be too far a stretch to see in Saudi Arabia even the glimmer of the emergence of civil society.

That was just the opening lines. Greenhouse’s Handsmaid’s Tale-esque screed goes on to declare the recent move of the Trump White House was “enabling a fanatical fringe” to “outsource a crucially important building block of national health care policy.”

“It’s hard to overstate the radical nature of what has just happened,” she breathlessly gushed. Yes, she’s just talking about employer-provided birth control. But let’s not overreact or anything.

Greenhouse characterized the broadened exemptions as a dead-end for women. She worried, this “flat-out exemption” as she called it, holds “no requirement that women be offered any alternative route to coverage.” Again, ignoring the obvious, that the “alternative route” would be to just pay out-of-pocket for the inexpensive contraception yourself.

Greenhouse ended her article by blasting the right for not really caring about religious rights or moral objections at all; this was simply a ploy to control women. She claims, it’s all about “normalizing” the “disempowerment of women,” (because there’s nothing more “empowering” than requiring your employer to pay for your own contraception!)

:rofl2:

Harvey should hire Hillary as his lawyer. She's a proven expert of excoriating women who have been sexually abused or raped by a powerful man.

Indeed, Ms. Stretch. She is already working for him by pretending that Trump is worse. :palm:

Hillary Clinton's latest claim is that Donald Trump is a "sexual assaulter in the Oval Office."

In an interview published Friday, the former secretary of state claimed her 2016 presidential rival was a self-confessed “sexual assaulter.”

Mrs. Clinton said she was “shocked ” at decades of sexual harassment charges against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein — a long-time DEMOCRAT Party donor — before bringing up Mr. Trump.

Mrs. Clinton said, “After all, we have someone admitting to being a sexual assaulter in the Oval Office. There has to be a recognition that we must stand against the kind of action that is so sexist and misogynistic.”

Interviewer Andrew Marr then noted that Mrs. Clinton’s memoir, “What Happened,” seems unconcerned about sexual-assault accusations against former President Bill Clinton.

Joy Reid's attempt to distance DEMOCRATS from Harvey Weinstein backfires

A GQ story has raised the blood pressure of many DEMOCRATS.

Among those unhappy with the story is MSNBC’s Joy Reid, who attempted to downplay Weinstein’s connection to the DEMOCRAT Party and compared him to other donors.

Well, a DEMOCRAT donor who’s accused of sexual predation on many occasions over the course of decades, but try and make them all comparable if you will.

Reid was reminded that Weinstein’s personal donations to DEMOCRATS pale in comparison to the money he helped raise for the party as a fundraiser.

It’s safe to say that Reid’s attempt to distance DEMOCRATS from Weinstein backfired big time.

'Feminist Hero' Lisa Bloom Fought to Kill Story on Amazon Exec Accused of Sexual Harassment

In a shocking tweetstorm, actress Rose McGowan accused LIBERAL Amazon CEO and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos of covering up her rape.

Rose McGowan is claiming that Amazon optioned a television series from her only to kill it soon after when she voiced concern about a possible move the company was making to bailout Weinstein.

‘I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn’t been proven. I said I was the proof,’ said McGowan on Thursday in a tweet directed at company founder Jeff Bezos.

‘I had already sold a script I wrote to your studio, it was in development. When I heard a Weinstein bailout was in the works.’

She then added: ‘I forcefully begged studio head to do the right thing. I was ignored. Deal was done. Amazon won a dirty Oscar.’

That ‘dirty Oscar’ seems to be a reference to Casey Affleck’s Best Actor win for ‘Manchester by the Sea’ earlier this year, an award that Ben’s younger brother took home despite two women accusing him of sexual harassment.

From The Hollywood Reporter;

On the evening of July 10, 2015, after a long day of promoting Man in the High Castle at Comic-Con in San Diego, Hackett attended a dinner with the show’s cast and Amazon staff at the U.S. Grant Hotel. There she says she met Price for the first time. He asked her to attend an Amazon staff party later that night at the W Hotel (now the Renaissance) and she ended up in a taxi with Price and Michael Paull, then another top Amazon executive and now CEO of the digital media company BAMTech.

Once in the cab, Hackett says Price repeatedly and insistently propositioned her. “You will love my dick,” he said, according to Hackett, who relayed her account to multiple individuals in the hours after the alleged episode. (The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Hackett told at least two people about the alleged incident in the immediate aftermath.) Hackett says she made clear to Price she was not interested and told him that she is lesbian with a wife and children.

Hackett says Price did not relent in the cab or once they arrived at the Amazon party. As she talked with other executives, she says that Price stepped close to her and loudly said, “Anal sex!” in her ear.

Now this…

Amazon has suspended Roy Price, the frisky executive accused of sexual harassment. They are dropping like flies, aren’t they?

According to reporter Kim Masters, Lisa Bloom tried to kill the story involving the now suspended Amazon executive. "It didn’t help that one of the lawyers fighting my story was Charles Harder, who successfully represented Hogan in the Gawker case. He was part of a tag team with Lisa Bloom, who along with Harder also represented Weinstein in his unsuccessful efforts to fend off The New York Times and The New Yorker. Bloom resigned from representing Weinstein after initially arguing that he was an “old dinosaur.” (Her own mother, Gloria Allred, reproached her.) In my case, one of Bloom’s tactics was to try to kill the story by telling multiple outlets that I had approached Price and Amazon for money to support my radio show. There was no truth to this, as I had never asked either for funding."

The chorus of disgust over Harvey Weinstein’s lascivious and predatory behavior is deafening.

Hollywood’s greatest stars, and many of its minor ones, are falling over themselves to denounce the monster who has now been accused of rape by four women.

Among the latest to tear into him is Kate Beckinsale who said he tried the old ‘meet me in my hotel room in my dressing gown’ trick with her when she was just 17. She declined his offers of alcohol, she added, saying she had school in the morning. Standing up to Weinstein ‘harmed my career’, she claimed.

Isn’t it surprising, then, that Kate went on to make three major movies with Weinstein after the bathrobe incident which took place around 1990 — Serendipity in 2001, The Aviator in 2004 and Everybody’s Fine in 2009.

Another of Weinstein’s alleged victims was Gwyneth Paltrow. She was so mortified after he tried to bed her aged 22 that she agreed to make Emma soon afterwards in 1996, The Pallbearer in the same year, then Sliding Doors in 1998.

In all she made at least nine Weinstein movies, and after her successes with his company, the New York Times crowned her the ‘First Lady of Miramax’ (his company).

Supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne claims he demanded a threesome in his hotel suite — yet she took a star part in his movie Tulip Fever.

I could fill a telephone directory with the names of Hollywood actresses and wannabes who now claim they were sexually harassed or worse by Weinstein, yet kept quiet about it as they continued to take his shilling and profit from his power.

Bond girl Lea Seydoux told this week for the first time how Weinstein tried to jump on her and kiss her — back in 2012, she thinks. Why did it take her so long to speak out?

Even B-listers are at it. Myleene Klass says Weinstein propositioned her, offering her a ‘sex contract’ in 2010. So why is she only naming him now, seven years on?

The great unanswered question in this sordid affair is how could this beast have preyed for so long on so many strong, multi-million-dollar Hollywood actresses without one of them breaking ranks?

The ghastly truth may be that it suited them to stay silent. They valued their box office earnings and star status more than their integrity or their duty to other young women.

I would argue that with their silence they colluded in his activities — enabling him to continue to paw and grope and harass and abuse women for decades when they could have shamed him. This sorry saga has not been a good advert for the sisterhood, however much they might scream about Weinstein now.
