FEMA is doing nothing....

Blue-collar workers prevailed over bureaucracy in Hurricane Helene-ravaged North Carolina by rebuilding a highway at breakneck speed on their own terms – allowing residents to finally return home. Coal miners from West Virginia – whom locals have lovingly dubbed the “West Virginia Boys” – moved a mountain in just three days to reopen a 2.7-mile stretch of Highway 64 between Bat Cave and Chimney Rock washed away by Helene.
Chimney Rock residents who fled the hurricane one month ago will now be able to return home for the first time within a few days, months earlier than they expected.

Just talked to my son who lives near ft Bragg (or whatever)....they hear a lot of this but are not sure how badly FEMA sucks, and if so why.

Interesting they said that the locals know all about the Duke Energy dams failing to catastrophic effect, and how it looks fishy...something that I almost never see talked about.

Because who needs safety regulations to be adhered to in road construction?

Hey, it's good that people got together to get this done. But this isn't a model for how "the Wet Vagina Boys" are a superior means of building transportation infrastructure.

FEMA doesn't suck. That's a lie Hitler Jr. passes off so you will think him the sole source of all good. You are being suckered.

Also: your lies about FEMA are part of why FEMA workers were threatened. Good job fucking the people of North Carolina. Was that what you intended to do?

At the end of the day your party is actually a force for evil. People get legitimately hurt by you pussies hanging out in comfort passing on the lies of Herr Drumpf.

Stay out of the area and you will be fine.

NASA said their next mission will bring a payload of mars rocks back to earth. You have to know they're bullshitting. amirite
There are multiple countries involved with that. I hope they get those rocks back to Earth. It will be interesting.

Who said something about radioactive fuel? Just curious.
The alt right posters do not believe a radioactive battery is possible. I have said it is possible, but dangerous because terrorists can use it to make a dirty bomb. They claim that any battery can be dangerous. And on and on.

I often think debating the alt right is pointless.

If you get it into your body, it is extremely dangerous. So a dirty bomb would turn the material into a fine dust, that when breathed in would allow the alpha radiation to hit the blood.
It took workers painting radium watch faces years of exposure to end up with cancer and other issues. Alpha emitters are not that dangerous to occasional or intermittent exposure for short periods of time.

It is not the amount of time, so much as the wether the exposure is internal. A thin piece of paper can block alpha radiation, so the skin does a fine job of blocking it. The problem is the lungs are much thinner than the skin, so if you get alpha radiation emitting particles in your lungs, you will get blood cancer.

The workers painting watch dials would lick the brushes to straighten them. That got radium into their bodies, and killed them over time. They still make radium gunsights and similar products, so long as you keep it out of the body, it is safe.

Where will they get the fuel to bring a payload back from mars? Think before you post.
One country's project collected the samples. Another countries project launched them into orbit. And I think it is the USA that is returning them.

It takes a lot of energy, but you can send fuel to Mars to launch things into orbit. The same was done with the Moon. NASA sent a capsule to the Moon that included the fuel to launch itself off the Moon.

It is all doable, though there is a reason it costs a lot of money to do.

You lost touch with reality, Walt. The Lunar Module had zero redundancy to guarantee our best pilots had a chance to make it home. I was a project manager to replace copper wires with fiber optics. Redundancy is the name of the game. No one in their right mind would send men to the moon without plan B, C and D to get them home.

Didn't Apollo 13 make it home on plan E? So there was some redundancy, not zero as you claim.

Sometimes you have to take risks. Sometimes you can not have as much redundancy as you want. That is just life.

This thread is rightys doing the old Reagan thing. The government can do nothing right . You cannot trust the government so you should eliminate it and become a dictatorship or end government and go feral.

LM-1 and Mars Climate Orbiter was drama bait you ate hook, line and sinker. Government knows how to reel you suckers in. Again, real world projects are tested over and again to make sure everything goes as planned.

Everything did not go as planned with the Apollo 1 Tragedy.
