And you’re wrong about the invaders. They take jobs away from our citizens. At least some of them are running drugs in that are *killing* our citizens. Some number are infected with the CCP bug and killing as many or more people than the unvaccinated are. If they get bad sick with Covid they take ICU beds away from our citizens.
The invasion should seem to warrant at least as much attention as the insurrection; particularly, since the insurrection only lasted several hours, ended over half a year ago and all the insurrectionists are rounded up.
But what about the ongoing invasion at the border?

Most of our forefathers came here from other places.
Immigrants built this country up.
We can make it bigger, just let them in and turn them loose. Let them work. Let them create work for others. Let them be a part of the economy. Let them create more demand through their consumerism. Works for those of us already here, why not for them? Growing GDP is a good thing. Especially if it is small business. There's no rule that says they have to take more jobs than they create.
The right wing echo chamber just reverberates with nonsense. There is this idea that the immigrants are up to no good. That's poppycock. They want to work. Make that a requirement for entry. If they don't find work, either working for others or a business they create (adding jobs) in a certain amount of time then go ahead and toss them out. Make it provisional. That's fine.
We can take advantage of a vast pool of untapped human capital.

Strongly disagreed. Prison isn't picnic. Notice that he wasn't convicted of any violence; simply being part of the mob that disrupted Congress.
Also note the ramifications: If he was employed, he's now an unemployed 38 year old who will be close to 40 ex-Felon by the time he gets out of prison. He can't vote, he can't own a gun and he is unlikely to ever get a job that pays over minimum wage. His life is most likely ruined.
As the nation is seeing with other insurrectionists, many are already estranged from their own families because of their wacky beliefs.
BTW, IIRC, short sentences like that are likely to see him serve the entire sentence, not get out after 2/3s or so of serving his sentence.

But when I examined the definition of the word invasion, it places the constraint on the incoming or spread of something as being 'unusually hurtful.'
To be honest, it has not been established that immigration is 'unusually hurtful.'
The right wants to maintain that it is, but that's not clear at all. It's opinion.

Well, in my opinion 1/6 wasn’t an insurrection lol. So far, the courts agree with me.
What you fail to see is that you gave up ground once you conceded the point on using terms
in a colloquial sense. A colloquialism is a termed used loosely. You can’t [if you want to play fair] invoke a strict definition on ‘invasion’ for the identical reasons it’s pointless for me to object to your use of ‘insurrection’ when your using it in a colloquial sense.
