I read history all the time so it is important to me. It is not logic, however.

If the dependent clause is first (again, rather like an introduction to the main clause), it is followed by a comma (like in this sentence and the next). If the independent clause comes first, no punctuation separates the two.

Getting to the point instead of the grammar, shadow Earl, by your reasoning today's Court should be guided by an Eighteenth Century's understanding of the word, "arms", the amendment having no restriction on what "arms" the right attaches to. Yes?

Dummy, and because there were none a comma was not needed and being not needed it's use would be improper. Anyway, good you looked it up.
