FEAR...

I try my best not to take action out of fear, I think that is a sad way to live ones life. I admit I am not perfect at it, but its my goal and I am constantly getting better.

I try to only take action out of Reason, Logic, Joy, Responsability, artistic furfillment.

To act out of fear is to give in to darkness.

I live in a very middle class neighborhood, it was once the best neighborhood in town back in the 1960's but now its very average. It borders a very bad section of town, but crime in our town is very low, I dont have any neighbors who have had a breakin or crime visit there home. I rarely lock my door when we leave for the day. I dont have many valuables in the house, they could take the television. My wife has a diamond ring, but its always on her finger.

I have friends who have thousands invested in security systems, video monitors that watch the doors, alarms that ring, guns, years worth of food stocked in the garage and those friends still stay up at night worrying. I dont do any of that shit and sleep well at night.

Now, dont misunderstand... I lock my door at night when my family is in the house, our lives are valuable and a lock is easy. If a hurricane is predicted to hit the house I buy extra cans of food and water and gas. I had the tree trimmed in the back yard because it was leaning toward the house. I do not do those things out of fear however, I do them out of logic and reason.

If Americans could live a less fearfull life we might just all be better off.

Well, like most liberals, it sounds like you don't live the life you condemn others to with your warped policies. You sound so Ward Cleaver. Bully for your

so you think the neighbors that have invested in security systems, video monitors that watch the doors, alarms that ring, guns, years worth of food stocked in the garage
are acting illogically or they are afraid ?

That conclusion is in itself illogical.....if I have all of the above, I would feel safe and secure and prepared for some emergency.....I WOULD be sleeping peacefully
at night.......the same way an armed citizen that finds themselves alone and in a strange place unfamiliar place feels safer that the unarmed
man in the same circumstances.....or the stranded in a snowstorm person that is lucky enough to have a extra blanket or coat with him, etc.

Your logic is ass backwards....you do prepare for some predictable event, but not for the unforeseen, unpredictable, surprise emergency....
Like the boy scouts say.....Be prepared.

Jarod will be that douchebag screaming during an emergency about price gouging while my family is warm and snug with alternate power, food, water and heat. Jarod will be crying into the cameras "Where is the government? Why aren't they here to help me?"

Of course there is another option, maybe his neighbors do all of those things because they don't trust his crazy ass.

Fear is an effect of imagination, what we imagine may exist. Danger is real, preparation and a means to deal with something that may endanger you may not always be an extension of fear. Some of us may have had preparation drilled into our heads so that fear would not be our first response to danger.

I happen to know many of these people and they are not sleeping well, they are wrecked with anxiety.

The people I am talking about have fear as a first responce to everything. I agree preparation is one way to prevent acting out of fear, but preparing for every fear is not possable. I prepare for logical dangers, but not out of fear.

I know people whos security system is the most valuable thing that a burgular could steal.

Unless you're spying on these folks in their beds, its probably YOU overreacting.....preparing for the future, which is by its nature, the unknown, is a perfectly natural,
healthy and mature response for yourself and your familys well being.....like a school practicing fire drills....only a fool ignores danger signs....
It could be you that mistakes their preparation for fear when the preparation is nothing more than good common sense.

Apprehension, feeling of uncertainty, and appropriate fear resulting from the anticipation of a realistic danger or threatening event or situation, is preferable
to being caught off guard and surprised by an "event" that might put your life or the lives of your family in unnecessary danger.....
It is the reason police officers are armed, wear protective vests, etc....

You don't or won't even consider the obvious danger to the country with its growing 16 trillion dollar debt with no end in sight....

Im just going by what these people tell me about how they sleep and what one of thems wife told me.

You are the reason the term "ignorance is bliss" was coined

Maybe but Im 41 years old, happy as can be.. my family and I have never been a victim of violent crime. We have never been hungry or gone without... So something is working.

Hey Bravatard: Scouts are courteous, kind, clean and reverent too.

I feel fairly comfortable that I can overcome just about any likely senario the world throws my way.

If not, Ill die, but Im not afraid of that either. Id rather live my life witout fear than live forever.
